Root Htc one m8 stuck on boot screen

they are all USB 3 :(

Ive been copying to sd card using a card reader.... mind you I did have better luck with the internal reader...

okay. time to narrow the variables! brb

And another trick you can try - although it is much slower - download the rom zip directly via a browser on your phone.

Most browsers OUGHT to be ok with that but personally, I've had the best luck with Boat Browser doing that.

Pro tip - get the download page on your Mac, email or text yourself the link, go to link on phone.

How to text yourself from a Mac - pretty sure that you can use Messages to send to your gmail account.

Well!!!!

I seem to have a working ROM... Android Rev 22.1, used the internal SD card reader and that failed the md5 check, the dab push worked (seemingly well atm). Let you know when its up and ready for Sunshine!

brb

Im stuck on the HTC white screen( 2 min so far), just finished flashing the ROM, all went well. Rebooted into Bootloader, flashed the boot.img (./adb flash boot boot.img) then ./fastboot reboot.....thats where it seems a bit stuck... Im assuming that was correct?

Right, Android Revoltion 22.1 doesn't seem to let me have wifi (won't let me turn it on). I am just running Sunshine... its rebooting...

Whats the reason for the lack of Wifi ability, is that a firmware thing?

fastboot flash boot boot.img

No idea why you keep getting no wifi though. :(

I'm out for the night, will have to check back for you on the whole SuperCID and GPE thing.

Hi all, I hope someone is still checking this thread.

I have a rogers htc one m8, i was running lolipop prior to running into my problem. I wanted to install sense 7 so i unlocked the bootloader flashed twrp 2.8.6.0 and flashed a root update zip. everything was all good but I didn't pay attention enough to s-off. after trying to flash the m9 software, i deleted all data on my phone including the OS! I've been stuck in twrp for about 3 days and i've tried everything.

I've tried to flash a ANDRODIDREVOLUTIONHD both lolipop and kitkat versions, I get to the last phase of zip installation but when the device boots back up im stuck on the htc splashscreen. I've tried vipeone roms with the same yeild.

I found a twrp backup of a stock rogers htc one m8 online, and when i try backing up my own rom just to create a twrp directory the recovery can recognize i get the error 'failed to make backup folder' whether its on internal storage or my external_sd. I'm all out of solutions and have lost hope at this moment.

Id really appreciate it if someone could please help me.

PS: I know how to work adb and fastboot commands if that counts for anything.

OK, good information but need to know -

What update zip did you flash? You mentioned the M9, so please elaborate.

Are you s-on or s-off?

I flashed the latest version of skydragon but i was s-on so it failed.

Tried wiping everything and that's when i wiped my OS by accident and got into this mess.

Please review this thread and tell me if you also got Skydragon from a rogue source -

http://androidforums.com/threads/htc-one-m8-boot-loop.913465/

Is there some irc channel pushing this?

This is a pretty big coincidence.

I got skydragon from the same thread. the official skydragon thread you posted a link to. But that post you linked to was interesting. neverthless I'm still stuck here after flashing AndroidRevolution for the 100x and its been trying to boot for 40 minutes after wiping data cache and dalvik

Okay so that's encouraging!

Get your phone into FASTBOOT USB mode, open the Android Revolution zip file and extract the boot.img - place into same folder as your fastboot on your pc.

From a command window in that folder say -

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Wait for transfer and OKAY.

If successful, say -

fastboot reboot

Make sure that the boot.img comes from the last version of Android Revolution that you tried to install.

just tried that. Been stuck on the htc boot screen for 18 minutes now :(

Take a one in a million shot - hold volume up + power to force a hardware reset.

You mean try again? I shall, I've tried it before the first time I came across your thread with no results. I just downloaded the latest viperone rom. should i flash that one while flashing the boot.img file through fastboot seperately again?

If that fails, FASTBOOT USB mode and say -

fastboot getvar all

Alt+space, E for edit, select all, copy and paste the info here.

EDIT out your meid and serial number.

Plus any info from the top of the fastboot screen.

Going to look for an RUU unless you already have.

The fact that TWRP couldn't wait to storage means that your partitions are likely hosed.

yea that's what I was thinking.

If you're looking for my CID it's ROGER001. and from what I've found.. there isn't a ruu for it. however I shall try one more time with viperone and let you know what happens
