Root stock recovery stock rom

Not sure how many variants there are for this device, but the stock recovery for Z970 can be found HERE if that's what you have.

The stock recovery shows the build number of the stock ROM so if you put the T-Mobile stock recovery on a metro zmax or vice versa it won't match and someone might notice. If someone notices that the build numbers don't match they will know you have rooted the phone and they probably won't honor the warranty.
Edit: I also know of at least 3 variants, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Univision. I think there might also be a Walmart family mobile version as well.
 
I'm not sure about flashify; I haven't used it much. Personally, I'd just use fastboot to flash it.
 
If you have root in adb you can do this.
Extract the contents of one of the switcher zips then move the recovery.img to your platform-tools folder. Then while in your platform-tools folder open a terminal or command prompt depending on whether you havewindows, Linux, or Mac OS X and type the following commands.
adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
adb shell
su
cd /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=recovery
reboot recovery
 
Well, anytime I've flashed a recovery (custom or stock) on any device, I've placed the img in my "platform-tools" folder and used fastboot to flash the img.

fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img

I'm not familiar with this device though, so may be best to wait for someone else to chime in before moving forward.
 
After reading this thread I have modified my MetroPCS and T-Mobile stock ROMs so that they not only return your ROM to 100% stock unrooted status but they also remove twrp and flash the stock recovery. I should have them uploaded later tonight. I decided to do it this way because there are quite a few people who don't understand the difference between a twrp backup and a recovery. I know of at least one case where someone deleted their OS and then flashed the stock recovery thinking it would fix their problem, when in fact it just removed twrp and left them with a permanent brick.
