Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Hi PattiCake, I thought of you this afternoon. Why - C O M C A S T ! !

I spent 10 minutes trying to get past their automated computerized obstacle course so I could get put in the queue to talk to someone. The way around the automaton is answer 'agent' to every question asked. All the services were out and Comcast has no way to report that. They demand to know which service you are having a problem with so they can route the call. The idiot who finally answered didn't know what to say after I told him the automated system already tried a modem reset (He was looking up my account when I told him). Turns out it was an outage for the entire area. ARRRGGGHHH!

Personally, when I call a company and get stuck in some sort of automated answer agent system, I hit MUTE on my phone, since I absolutely refuse the speak to a machine, I just keep hitting the 0 key on my phone over and over again until the automated system gives up and connects me to a human.

Slow freight train between me and the gas station, which I need because my son used up all my gas last night.

... I might end up late for work this morning.

I still have programs on CDs. All my Adobe - including Illustrator 9 and Photoshop 7 (Now running the last ones before cloud) Specialty software has CDs (they usually come with the item) and I still have all my Palm CDs.

I'll buy old ones and rip them. My player in the car takes USB. I can download, but I have one problem. Like FM, streaming services don't always announce the song or musician. How do you know what to buy? I go by whatever I like, not whatever song current artist is putting out.

I bought the player with the USB as the dust from offroading in Moab killed one player. The stuff is red and ubiquitous.

Comcast is always a barrel of laughs! Next time that happens, try the option for "I want to downgrade my service" - you might get a faster response (no promises though!)

I'm a cord never. Comcast bought out Adelphia locally and kept calling to get us to sign up. They even tromped through the yard planning the cable path. (I tossed the markers)I told them I didn't want HBO, Showtime, I wanted Yankee's baseball. I got called unAmerican for that. Now with a Roku and a subscription to MLB, I don't need Comcrap.

If that Sling TV from Direct? doesn't need a box, I might be interested for the Vulcan. He loves golf. The Open championship from the UK was on cable only. Football is OTA. I can record one, watch another, and keep the recorded one to watch during the week when nothing's on PBS. NBA and NHL are non-starters.

Switched to MetroPCS this morning. Apparently my number wasn't eligible to be ported, so I had to get a las vegas number.

Now I am in a bit of a dilemna. I really want to keep my old number parked somewhere. Tried Google Voice but apparently they can't port it either....my ST account runs out on the 27th.....would really like to avoid losing this number to the eternities.

I would think that once your old contact expires, you can port the number to Google Voice.

Also, once the phone number has been ported to Google Voice, you will be able to use it on your current Metro PCS device.

I didn't have a contract. They say it is a geographical issue
Okay...it still sounds odd to me that you can't port your old number to Google Voice.

Personally I would ask some of the members here if they have any ideas as to what you can do to port the old number to GV. They might have some ideas.

That sucks.

Sit on Google Voice and keep trying to pick it? Maybe when it's released from ST you can grab it. I don't have a clue about what goes where when or is available through what, but I'd give that a try anyway? Oh. I don't know.

I do know I'd not be happy if I had to give up either my 'real' or my GV number all these years later though.

Bad parts from stock... Just spent six hours troubleshooting a problem caused by a bad valve installed earlier today, and the one we brought was also bad... And now I'm hearing that the night shift doesn't have any spare mechanics so I'm supposed to wait minimum two hours for another part (or three) to show up.

I still have to work tomorrow.

At least I'm making double-time...
