Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

1. I don't think they will charge more for the plan. I think it is possible that they may need to create a new plan for the evo to make it work with their system, but I still think that the price will stay the same.
2. I say the 'big news' on the 12th will be one of two things. Most likely will be that the 4g network is more developed than anybody thinks, I don't have any inside info and don't even really know much about 4g other than it is fast, but this is what my gut is saying. With this might be a pre installed video chat program, wouldn't it be cool if that was how the event started...with Dan Hesse not there but talking to everybody on live video chat? Less likely I say will be some kind of memory upgrade from the previously released specs....be it ROM, RAM or storage.

And as a new guy in this forum, just perusing the site. And as a person who actively posts to over twenty forums, may I say this?

For a bunch of phone geeks, this is maybe the second most hostile forum I've experienced. The only one I've seen that beats this forum is specifically dedicated to hostility. That's a fun forum, but you know what's what when you get there.

I'm speculating. IF there is a video chat announcement for this event....wouldn't it be cool if, instead of being there right away, if Dan Hesse used video chat to start the event and showed up later....I'm just saying...

Check out this photo though, the piece under the kickstand does look like it could snap out.

So everyone is talking about a possible "App" or something that may be announced on wednesday. Something that will catch the general public's attention, including Joe Sixpack (as said before)...so here is my guess:

How bout an actual application pre-installed that utilizes the front-facing camera for actual video chat?? They have said it will be available at some point, why not out of the box? This will definitely catch a lot of the public's attention!

i think theyre gonna announce that we can install most apps onto the sd card. or expand the memory. my brother thinks they added amoled screen to it which i doubt.

whats happening on the 12th? is this 12th of may?
 
Yes big release party for this phone in NYC with Dan Hesse and there going to probably tell us more about like exact date and price even though we pretty much know 6/6 199 but some thing it's going to come the end of may which were hoping. And there also promoting the new Disney movie too.

Google will be previewing Froyo 2.2 in Moscone Center here in SF on May 19th at Google's I/O event. I believe it might be an OTA update for the EVO later on.

I really hope this is true. It would be a huge mistake to charge more for 4G. Sprint is not AT&T or Verizon and this is not the iPhone so any move like this would eat into possible new customers or growth.

Also the current clearwire plan is $30 a month so charging more than that wouldn't make much sense.

Maybe different colored accents. Now that would be SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
 
I personally like the Ferrari red, though like others said it seems too verizon-like. So far the only thing that could possibly make this device better is a Super AMOLED screen, everything else is phone heaven, honestly this is my dream phone.

2 days for information and 27 till release. I CAN'T WAIT :D

You can lock it down to private for all videos. Then go in and change it to public. You can also change the settings on your phone before you start to stream. So it can be done right before your stream/and during or just set them all to private and change videos later.

I understand they spent a lot to get 4g up in more places then there website says, but i'm pretty sure Wimax costs less and has more capacity (hence the no cap) then their current 3g (EVDO) set up... So why charge for it?

Getting more customers will net them more gains anyway.

What if the the surprise is something like greater coupling of a "virtual", external filesystem. The phone's filesystem might be extended in a virtual manner to appear as there is an external harddrive??
GOOGLE currently has some options for using GMAIL allocated disk space for storage.
