So I tried something the other night since I was having so many heat issues with multiple kernals I tried with this ROM.

I cleaned/wiped 4-5 times. Reinstalled the ROM. Edited the Pete file per instructions in the thread. Didn't change the kernal that installed with the ROM and didn't install SetCPU. I know the point of editing the Pete file was to control the kernal with SetCPU but I just wanted to test things.

Anyway. I've gotten the best temps and battery life since I've gotten my Droid. Odd. Since in theory nothing is controlling the kernal speeds if I'm using the edited Pete file without SetCPU installed.

I want to up the kernal to 800mhz but after all the issues I had I'm a bit nervous to make any changes at this point.

New to NexTheme here. Sorry if this has been addressed already.

My power button isn't working to turn the phone to "sleep" mode anymore. And when it auto fades after a minute it works while it has the sliders for unlock and sound off/on.

Definitely need to have that back. Otherwise this ROM is screaming. I have all kinds of free memory and the fonts are easy on the eyes. Very nice overall but I'm going to have to bug out until I can make my phone sleep again =(

Try going into Spare Parts, and changing the 'end button behavior' to 'Sleep'

hey fab will the new dark theme just posted a little while ago work with this rom or one of you other ese81 roms. Id rather stick with the V1 because its great and been the best on speed an dperformance not to mention stable but would love to try this new dark edge I knwo pete said not to use any other themes just wonder if it would work on your version of v1 of another one of your ese81 roms. One of the guys who helped with the dark edge said it doesnt work with v1 because of somethign to do with the framework I wasnt sure if yours was different of if you could so something like this?

The framework issue is probably pretty easy to fix, so they should have a BBV1 compatible version up soon.

I wouldn't try it until then though. There is definitely something funky about BBV1's framework (as I learned the hard way porting NexTheme over :( )

I'm having weird problems with the SuperUser app. It works fine with the default 600MHz kernel, but as soon as I try the 1.1 or 1.2 GHz (IV, LV, SV, Bekit's modded by Pete or P3Droid's) the prompt for SU doesn't even pop up, and whichever app needed root access doesn't get it. I was running NexTheme R3 just fine with P3Droid's 1200IV kernel, so is there something I'm missing?

Hey I'm getting a problem with my LEDs disappearing in and put while I'm actually using the phone. Any idea what it could be? That's the only problem I have with this rom. Thanks for any help.

that theme looks like so much win

I came from CM 5.0.6.2 to this here NexBeast and my battery life has been SICK (that's a good thing, btw). I think this is the best ROM I've run to date. Props to Pete for the awesome foundation and Fab for applying the theme and the extras.

Oh, what I meant by LEDs was the backlight LEDs for the the keyboard and the soft buttons. I just flash a 600MHz LV P3 kernel, and it didn't nothing. Fixed permissions, and it did nothing. Any idea how to fix this?

This is an FYI for anyone who has edited the "pete" file in xbin with the intent of allowing SetCPU to operate without conflicting with Pete's settings. Just so you know, every time you reinstall one of Pete's approved kernels, the pete file gets rewritten again with Pete's command lines. In another forum, Pete has said that the ONLY line you should edit is the last one (busybox killall -q com.mhuang.overclocking) and, in fact, Pete has actually removed that line in some of the kernels already.

Have you tried hitting the power button to put your Droid to sleep, then waking it up again? That always works for me.

Ne1 having issues with helixlauncher1 or 2 thinking 2 for myself.

So does the Helix2 have any slowdown issues?

The 3D app drawer looked really cool popping up and out for me. I liked the effect. But scrolling was frustrating. No matter how hard I 'flicked' up to get to the bottom of the list of apps, it would only rotate through a few lines of apps. I went back to the Helix 1 and have not looked back. Smooth as butter (even though not as flashy looking). EDIT: this was with the 800mhz kernel.

Sorry for the noob question, but eyes are bugging out looking at all these forum posts. Love this NexBeast ROM...just flashed my Droid for the first time and these forums are great. I noticed the links to the overclocking kernels and can't find a quick guide on how to actually use with this ROM. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Hey, I think we got this worked out over Twitter, but I decided to make a video showing how to easily install the kernels. This same method can be used to install themes, ROMs, basically any .zip update file.
