Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I'm assuming the 10$ applies for everyone even though it is pretty unfair if they aren't in a 4G area. I guess it's harder for me to understand because I'm in 4G heaven

Class action lawsuit anyone? It's never a good idea to make people pay extra fees for something can't access. lol

No, but what's going to happen is that people will decide not to get the phone. Why bother if you can't use the 4G you have to pay for? Rather than getting Wimax-ready devices into as many hands as possible, Sprint shot themselves in the foot.

Now this will just be purchased by people like us who wanted it anyway rather than anyone who figured they would be able to use it if they happen to be in a 4G area.

When wifi radios started becoming standard in laptops without PCMCIA cards and such, hotspots started popping up all over and before long it was the norm.

They should have focused on getting Wimax-ready handsets into as many hands as possible in order to define the new standard for 4G wireless.

I thought it said $29.99 for the mobile hotspot, and the $10 add on seems to be a surcharge for 4g.....

I am going to stick to my guns on this one. I have not herd that 4G is not included in the $69 unlimited plan or $99 unlimited plan. I will say if that is the case, bring this puppy on, and let me root this SOB. I wrote the code for Sprints 4G. I will be the first to post a work around and provide free access to 4G for everyone with in a 4G signal. (POS) I feel $99 per mo is more than reasonable.

First timer here after only finding the forum a few days ago.

IMO the 10 buck add-on will in the end get dropped. The FCC is looking out for consumers lately and with Dan Hesse being on record as saying wimax is cheaper, if they actually try to charge that I can easily see the FCC coming in and raising a stink about it. Especially if enough consumers raise a fuss about it. I agree 10 bucks doesn't seem like much on face value but it adds up in a hurry. What if I travel a lot for business and use my phone in non 4G areas am I to get a credit on the account for those time periods. I hope it gets dropped I would be hard pressed to pay it each month.

Everyone has the right to their own view, but paying $10 extra for the data when its still $10 cheaper then overpriced verizon and AT&T plans is still a great deal, especially for those who get 4g.

I would gladly pay you a ONE TIME FEE to support you on this lol :D While your at it, maybe create your own mobile hot spot app as well :D:D:D

GUYS WAIT A SECOND. I just got an emai from Sprint about the phone 69.99 OR if it is the business plan it is 59.99 and THEN the $10 add on!

The $10 dollar add on is just for the business plan according to this email!

you're not factoring in the placement of the comma - both plans will require the 10 add on.

I'm switching from tmobile. I was willing to pay the $10 more per month that a comparable plan costs at sprint. now it'll be $20 more per month so no evo for me. sad day.

He is also said that they were not going to charge extra for 4G.

can mods locked the thread for now?

what the hell do you people not get about the $10 EVO TAX that you have to pay. it's mandatory. stop guessing! READ or go back and re-read

Guys maybe we can cool it with the unnecessary posting on this thread? The servers for this forum are probably straining under the weight of all the posters. Price and date is released, go to your local sprint and ask what the 10$ actually is and just sit tight until you can buy the evo.

IMO this thread is no longer needed, it should now be called the official EVO 4G discussion thread or make a new one called that.

Concerning the simultaneous data/voice over 3G...

androidcentral

Correction: Simultaneous voice-data in 4G it WiFi. Not 3g.

Oh well.

Why cant you use the family plan at $129 for two lines? You can add both friends and family to it? It would be cheaper than two $69.99 plans. And 1500 minutes is better also than the 900 you get from the two $69.99 plans?
