Water Damage Sticker

Where exactly is this sticker on the eris? I was having a conversation about phones earlier with a friend and i couldn't seem to find mine. :?
 
take the back of the phone off, right on the bottom where the metal charging port is there is a red sticker. thats the water damage indicator
 
Mine has the sticker right in the little square depression above the USB port.

How long have you had the phone? Maybe if it hasn't been too long you can take it in to your VZW store and talk to them about it.

Nah, go back and sound all innocent and stuff. There's another sticker at the base of the battery, for a backup, just in case people like you come in saying the sticker's gone, and the one on the battery is all darkened up (wet), they know you were trying to commit fraud.

They'll probably replace your phone if you complain but be nice and innocent.

It's a legitimate problem. You're not coming there to redeem your warranty, you're going there because you don't want to run into the problem in the future.

It's customer service. They'll take care of you. Just try.
 
Oh that's a relief. I'm glad I'm not screwed over for something out of my control. I see the one on the battery. It looks exactly like the one HuskyKMA posted. Is that how it's supposed to look? :x

My problem now is that i have 2.1 v3. They'd probably find a reason to void my warranty..

Very dumb question - my sticker looks just like that one w/ the checkered pattern (same on the battery). I thought I was out of warranty had gotten it wet when I put on my shield. Is the checkered pattern how it is supposed to look pre wet or post wet?
 
pre-wet. checkered = good, solid red = bad

dont lick the sticker, little johnny, youll void your...JOHNNY! damnit...
 
Sometimes, having the phone in your pocket can make it turn pretty close to solid. Mine is pretty close to solid. Just tell a Verizon rep that so they can put a note on your account, if they want to.

is that because you keep leaking on your phone?

This is not a good idea and would be considered tampering with your phone, BUT

You could take a small piece of BACKWARD tape (in other words, NON-sticky facing down, STICKY facing UP), about the same size as the moisture sticker itself (but covering at least the whole thing, then a piece of FORWARD tape over it that covers the whole thing.

Now the adhesive is not touching the moisture sticker.

Now what?

The Verizon lady told me that sometimes the heat and % moisture coming off of your body, in your pocket, can make the warranty sticker turn darker. There's nothing you can really do about that.
 
Went to the verizon store today. Told them about the sticker and when she asked if i'd been having any problems with it i couldn't help myself.:p

I walked out with a new phone. I'm back on 1.5 and its sooo strange. Now i just gotta get that OTA prompt ;)
 
Be aware...there is a SECOND moisture sticker on the phone in a spot that you can't get to without disassembling the phone (which of course voids the warranty as you have to break the VOID sticker on the bottom right T5 screw).

I've got a pic if anyone is interested. I don't have a hosting URL.
