$10 for 4G sucks.dan hesse said that 4G will be free.i think ill go with the droid incredible instead.it seem sprint has a habit of lying to their customers.i bet as soon as hesse saw how hyped we all got over the EVO4G he figured he could squeeze a few more dollars out of everyone.why isn't anyone calling him out on this?

Adios. Hope you enjoy your smartphone on another carrer that *gasp* will still be more expensive than the Evo, even with this new $10 charge.

Is it just my thinking or is sprint really messing this up. I mean comon people we are all excited about the evo but how many do you think they will actually sell. The average consumer doesn't want a phone this big. I can't wait to get it but for most people its not even an option and for the few that considered it, the $10 fee just moved them further away. I think that sprint will be very very suprised about the sales of this device.

Regarding the size thing, the HD2 has sold out three times on t-mobile and they share the same dimensions. In fact that's how they market it, "the ridiculously big screen on the HD2". Screen may be a turn off to some, but the actual dimensions of the phone are mix between the width of an iphone and the height of an incredible.

I agree with that statement so much its not even funny.....I really dont get people's thought process here.

For one, it hasnt even been stated yet, what specifically you are getting with the $10 extra charge. Maybe there is some unseen features for the EVO that validates the extra charge?

Funny how this is the same uproar that happened last year when people had to change plans to get a PRE...its the exact same thing.

And I love how all the ones that were dying for an EVO, will now jump to Verizon for an Incredible....can someone do the math and see how much more you will be spending?

G'morning all, I see there was much chatter overnight since we finally got what we were waiting for.

So here's my pickle. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until August 1st. I just got off the phone with Sprint e-Care AND Retentions, and neither is willing/able to bump up my eligibility date, which is a shame.

I'm still pre-ordering the Evo, screw it.

My question is, what would my final cost be? The way the math works out, it's $450 minus $150 off for new line & activation minus $100 MIR. Am I still eligible for the MIR?

Been trying to dig around for the fine print on the $150 new line credit & $100 MIR, to see if I'm eligible for the latter.

Thoughts?

should be eligible for the MIR, if you ink a new 2 yr contract.

more importantly, don't give up! try online chat, that's where my success came from with the pre. let them know you're unhappy with the phone you have now, you like your sprint service, and are excited about the evo.

i wouldn't lie about anything, unless you're really, really good at it. i can't imagine you won't at least be able to up your date a month. better than nothing, right?

Unfortunately I dont think so....I think the MIR, or Instant Rebates ( At BB & RS) are tied in with the upgrade eligilibility.

So I think you are stuck paying full price....sorry.

Bek... The way I see it working is:

Phone = $450 - $150 (new contract or Eligible upgrade) - (BB instant rebate* or MIR) phone = $199 for all this way; however nothing IMO says that if you do not buy this phone as an upgrade or new-line that your not eligible for the MIR so...

$450 - $100 MIR = $350 otherwise (allow 10 - 14 weeks per the official news letter) my question then is will BB give you the phone for $350.... I'll call and update if possible... Hope this helped Bek.

How is the 450 SEP + 4G Coverage cheaper than VZW's plan? Near as I can tell, when you add 500 SMS/MMS ($10) it comes out to the same...so really, with Sprint if you live in a 3G area your price is the exact same, for the same functions, as VZW - the one difference is that with Sprint you have unlimited texting and VZW is capped at 500 (unlimited to other VZW subscribers). Just looking to clarify.

This could be the more possible; however not entirely plausible side of the coin... in my experience MIR's are tied to the purchase of a product not... and we could argue that he's not extending his service; however it is assumed he must have service in order to purchase the phone so the point is moot.

Bek... if this helps at all, call Sprint again and again until you get someone that'll help you. I called a few months ago in anticipation of the EVO.... I started with Sprint last year on April 12th with the Instinct S30 (don't judge me ) and hated it so much that I literally added a line to get the Pre.

Month's pass and the Pre as you all know is
awesome, but the hardware is crap and I get fed up with replacing the Pre and I demand a new phone (long story short) they actually (after a month of calling and speaking with different reps) agree to send me a new phone for free! BOOM!!! I thought things couldn't get better. I kept my replacement and gave my wife the new one and sold the Instinct S30 and everything was merry!

I called in Feb. to insure I was eligible for an up grade and they tell me I will be in January of 2011 because they used my early upgrade to give me a new pre (Bek... I wasn't eligible for crap until April of 2010 and in Dec of 2009 they gave me one... keep trying) I was furious... It took me 4 different calls into Sprint and dealing with multiple reps in the retention department and I finally was able to get my date re-set to April 1st of 2010... It took time, but I not only get my date re-set but I managed a $5 credit per each of my added lines (at this point I have 4 because of kids)

Bottom-Line don't give up and just because you got a no... doesn't mean you can't try again for a yes....

I call every so often and for 4 lines I pay $144 a month that includes my 2 primary lines having the service fees too.

19% discount because of my job
$20 service credit period because of the
January contract change (got this because I could have canceled my bill with no repercussions)
$10 ($5 for each line) credit because when they changed my date back they apologized for the inconvenience.

I've done this for two other friends (for the most part) It's possible!;)

Really?

If you want to compare apples to apples, price out a Sprint 450/everything plan, and a Verizon 450 with unlimited data, texts and the Visual Voicemail add-on - then its a true comparison. You can't compare a full-feature plan to a reduced feature plans and be like SEE LOOK ITS CHEAPER!!!

Think you pay $50, for a BB Gift Card, that can be used as the Pre-order for it.

So 50 bucks now, then the other 149.99+Tax at pick-up.

But I will go with Radio Shack, even if they dont do pre-order, I have one right behind my house....no one will beat me to being in line first.

I think the SEP 450 includes unlimited data so isn't it: $69.99 SEP + $10 Evo surcharge (which is what they really should call it) = $79.99 total. If I'm correct, the real gain here though is NO data cap which also means no MSG cap. That's not bad for people who really want to use this for multimedia first and phone when needed. Adding $29.99 for unlimited tethering would be a steal too with no data caps.

My caps don't mean anything other than to set apart data/msg. I wish Sprint would come out with simple sheet with the different scenarios to clarify.

I have done it before. You purchase a $50 gift card to be used as your deposit. You get a receipt and some other paperwork. You just come back on lauch day and pick your phone up. Pre-orders are set aside so you can wait till the rush subsides and go a little later. They'll give you specifics when you put down your deposit. Also the $50 goes towards your purchase.

Well they may claim that the HD2 has sold out and also that the increadible has sold out but last time I walked into best buy which was on the release date of the Increadible at like 4pm they had 9 left in stock and when I went to radio shack 2 days after the HD2 was released they had 2 in stock so the whole idea of them being sold out is more of a advertising thing.

I'm holding on on the pre-order waiting for someone to post what RS is gonna do...if there is any chance at an early release as speculated by Blue (not sure why I should believe him any more (sorry Blue)) then I'll go with RS.

If anyone stops in to RS before I can get to one can you post any info? I haven't even seen Shack doing any pre-orders yet?

Well, I'm looking forward to getting the new Evo. I'm also glad that it's being released on the 4th instead of the 6th.

For everyone else who's tempted to do as I did and read the 10 pages or so that were posted last night - don't. Here's what they say:

(Warning! Humor/Sarcasm to follow)

-------------------------------------------------------

June 4th, w00t! Not the 6th? Nope, the 4th! Who lied and said the 6th? Told you so. No you didn't.

$199 and $449. $449, really? Really! That's cool. That IS cool!!!

Who has a link? Anybody have a link??? WHERE'S MY LINK?!?!?!?

A $10 fee for "Premium Data add-on". It's required. That sucks! No, it's optional. I don't even have 4G! It's not a 4G fee it's a "data" fee, and it's required. Optional. Required! Optional!! (That goes on for about 3 pages.) Who lied and said there was no fee? He did! Did not. Did too.

$29.99 for hotspot service. I thought it was $10! Is it $10? No, it's $30. Who lied and said $10? It was what I was told - someone lied to me!

Oh cool... videos!!!

Circles are still there on the buttons. But you can barely see them! Doesn't matter, they're there. Whatever dude. But I can SEE them!!!

Simultaneous voice and data! Really? Really! w00t!!

Have another drink, BlueScreen!

Best Buy is the best place to pre-order from. No, Radio Shack gets theirs first! Best Buy! Radio Shack! Are you guys arguing AGAIN???

This is too expensive now with all these fees! Whiner. Who lied and said the cost wouldn't go up... let's get him! Look, just pay up or shut up, dude.

Required.

Told you so.
