They can call it what they want but it is for 4G. They are not charging just in 4G areas because right now that is probably only 25% of the country. Right now to the majority of us the EVO is a 3G phone only maybe the best one but 3g only. The HD2 and Incredible are also "multimedia" devices but there aren't any "premium data" charges, YET(if sprint gets away with it others will follow). I don't mind paying for what I use but do not appreciate paying extra for NOTHING>
It's pretty silly that we are discussing one of the greatest cellphones that has the potential to make a large splash, but the internet is buzzing about Sprint's 10$ fee.

Unlimited isn't really unlimited now is it. What they should have done, and what I suggested back on the previous page is that they should have changed the plans to limited with a 5gig cap plan and an unlimited plan. The TRUE unlimited plan would cost 10$ more.

I have two questions that I hope someone will be able to answer:
1. What is Best Buy's return policy? I've heard mixed reviews of Sprint's coverage in my area, so I want to test the Evo for 30 days to see how strong the signal is. If I preorder through BB, will I still be able to return it within 30 days with no strings attached like Sprint is currently advertising?
2. My wife and I are currently with Verizon. I plan on getting the Evo and if it passes the 30 day test she'll cancel her Verizon account and probably get her own Evo (she won't play guinnea pig because she uses it way too much for work to risk it in her mind). I get a 15% corp discount and she gets a 23% discount. Will I be able to sign up using my 15% discount on an individual plan and then convert to a family plan when she comes over and use her 23% discount or are we stuck with the 15% discount because I signed a two year contract with Sprint?

Yes, it has all of the channels that regular Sprint TV has, as well as a couple live channels that aren't avail. on reg. Sprint TV. I subcribed because Fox News Channel (live) was recently added back to the lineup. It works pretty damn well on my Palm Pre, but it should look (and preform) better on the Evo w/ 4G. Eugene is suppose to deploy 4G service on July 1st, according to the Clearwire guy I spoke with the other day!

I will not have a problem paying the $10 when 4G is available. It is available now to about 25% of the pop. by the end of 2010 they HOPE to have it available to about 40%(120 million). They say I will have it this summer but I also read it may have been delayed. Some people may not get it for a year or more. Unfortunately Sprint has nothing comparable now(HD2, incredible) I could wait for something else but it could be months and I need (WANT
) a new phone now.

To my experience with BB you should have NO problem/questions, etc with returning the phone to BB. They honor the 30 day guarantee via Sprint, as if they were an actual Sprint dealer.
As for the discount whoever is the account holder is what determines the discount. So if the account is in your name then it will be whatever your company discount is, not hers. However there are two options you can look into: 1) utilize the 30 day guarantee and "RETURN" the equipment and then just setup the account in her name and they will not actually take the equipment back possibly just switch paperwork OR 2) do an account change of ownership and she'll become the account holder and it'll switch the whole account and such into her name via Sprint directly

I would just sign up the acct originally in her name but you use the phone. if she comes over later you keep the higher discount and if you don't like the phone cancel in 30 days and it would be the same as if it was in your name.

Now the speed limit of the car in montana is 75 mph. The speed limit in oregon is 55 mph.
What you are saying is that you should have have to pay the same maintain fee as I do?
That since you go slower with the same car, you should not have to pay for the oil changes, tires, tune ups, and the other 100 things that happen when you own that car? Just trying to understand.

You have convinced me 1000 times today
I did sort it out in my head and I am OK with it... I did do the EVP so I should NOW get a 23% discount on my current bill which nullified the $10.00 for me.. so GAME ON! Interesting - so then the 10 dollar surcharge means that what we are paying for is unlimited data that goes beyond the 5 gig cap. I successfully got retentions to lower my monthly bill when I get the EVO next month by 10 dollars so it's essentially free for me, but that at least makes sense as to why it's on the EVO.

Few opinions on the vid I have..
-transitions on the HD2 seem much smoother than on any Android device using Sense. Most notable in switching between weather animations and when going into landscape
-I was upset about the lack of amoled when the phone was first announced but got over it. seeing the nexus next to the evo though, man..it really does make a difference. it won't stop me from buying the evo but my next phone after the evo will def have super amoled
-I really don't think anyone should really consider using the Evo camera to replace any true dedicated camera. 8 mega pixels is awesome but it really doesn't compare to a true 8mp camera in the long run.

I moaned to retentions and I got what I wanted without to much hassle. With little resistance from them and such a huge buzz on the Internet about this 10$ fee, I'd be surprised if they don't reevaluate things.

This is a completely irrelevant example. You have a choice as to fast you drive or where you drive. I can not use 4G if I want to it DOES NOT EXIST WHERE I LIVE OR WORK I agree this is getting silly already. Enjoy the phone and eat up all the gb's you can, At least I know my $10 will be supporting a FRIEND.
haha this is completely useless the car will still go 201 its your risk if you want to drive it at that speed and get cought, but the eve doesn't even have the option to ever run at 4g even if it wanted to in my area. BIG BIG DIFFERENCE, also you buy a car for what it is and not how fast it goes but the $10 add on is pretty much strictly due to 4G, sprint just doesn't want to come out and say it cause even more people will complain then.

Woooo jus got back from Best Buy, pre-ordered the phone. Lol there was no one there, and the paper he wrote me down on, I was the third person, and my appointment is at 11 am. I thought me being the 3rd person on that paper was pretty funny with all the hype about this phone, then again that could have been the second or third piece of paper .

Can we all stop this $10 a month talk? Its moot since it won't make a sliver of difference. The horse is beyond dead if there is even such a thing. You either get it and pay it or not pay it and don't get it. Its amazing how after months of rumors and speculations and BS, the bans, the on probations and all the trolling in the world and Sprint FINALLY drops the info like you all wanted and all you can talk about is something that can't be changed. Somethings will never change.
So does anyone know if the Rom is out and where we can get it?
