Hi. The bride is young, I guess. What's the average age of that line up? Wow.
It's just a version of the TV show Blind Date really, except here she gets to choose her husband for life.

Actually I am kidding. :D

They really are a happy couple, nothing arranged. :)

Well, I got an email from the guy in charge of the training department at work; presumably about the job I applied for back in March. Anyway, he wants me to call him at my earliest convenience, which will be tomorrow morning.

If he offers me a position, then it shall prove to be an entertaining day tomorrow... can I get a salary commensurate with what I am making now? Well my current manager even try to find a way to hold on to me (and my specialised skill-set)? What will happen with the projects I am currently engaged in?

Fun stuff.

When I find a higher paying job, and my current employer tries to match the offer, to me that says: "We could have been paying you more the whole time, but we decided not to". Too little too late, in my opinion.

In this case, it would be me forcing him to create a new job or two, which I've been trying to do fruitlessly for several years now. I like what I do, but the management does take advantage of the team here.

Well, first things first: I got to talk to the man.

Didn't get the job; basically came in second-place because of my location.

Guy wants me to apply for the next position when that comes out (soon, he says), because he'll have more flexibility.

Sorry to hear that!

Honestly I have been told several times that I came in second in a job interview.

Trust me when I say that I know it Sux!

Where do you live? Ceti Alpha V?
Might as well be.

I indicated during the interview that I was willing to move; more so once my youngest graduated high school next year, but his needs were immediate and there was a candidate conveniently placed: he can actually drive to several stations to teach, whereas I would have to fly, which is not easy from where I am at.

LOL, now that I think about it, this place very much resembles Ceti Alpha IV...

Sorry(?) to hear it, D-sone, but sometimes sour grapes are quite handy;

IMHO, Ya' maybe didn't miss out on the bestestist, most perfectest job of your life......Who knows what problems you might have been trading for others? It's the thing of the "maybe something great, but unrealized" that stings for a few minutes, but just a fantasy. As long as present situation is stable, and not miserable.......The devil you know. And hey, maybe word gets out, management might need to show a little more interest in keeping you around and happy; Could work to your ultimate advantage. Obviously, what the hell do I know.......What do any of us? (Other than how to spin it, positive or negative).

Anyhoooooo.
Random thought for the moment: Little kids can be funny, and it's OK to laugh at 'em, whatever the circumstances.:D

A few nights ago, had dinner with (part of) family, 7 YO Nephew "D" was trying out his comedy routine on us.
The kid needs some serious work on his timing and delivery, we suffered through a nearly unbearable 6 joke set, mostly laughing at him, it was that bad.

But spinning things positive: At least the drinks were free.
And the kid did show some potential; He seems to have good instincts for a few of the most basic rules: Pick the correct hapless victim from the crowd to be the ideal straight man, and always close hard with your best material.

He called my Mom up on stage, to help him out with the closer; Who doesn't love a good "knock-knock" joke?

D: Knock knock.....
Mom: Who's there?
D: A little old lady.
Mom: Alittleoldladywho?
D: "How do you make your Grandma' yodel like a fool?"

Brought the friggin' house down.:p

No worries. Actually, it would have been rough trying to transition to a new job right now, particularly if they wanted me to transfer immediately to some other location. In my current position, I am heading up a special project that starts Wednesday, and will last for some ten weeks or so (some good overtime for me... Maybe nine hours a week). Not to mention beginning of the school year for the youngest and my eldest son's family occupying my living room until he can find a decent job and they can find a better place to live... So, yeah; unless someone is going to offer me six figures to start, now is not the best time to change jobs/locations.

Moving is a pain in the rear...

And moving a hoarder? Even the professional movers are like, whoa!

The supervisor is scrambling around, trying to find more help, and another moving van.

One of the packers said, "man, I should've packed a change of clothes..."
