I'm no longer up in the area, but San Francisco has the cable cars. (More of a tourist attraction now, but still kinda cool) Interesting engineering for the day, and am lead to believe the drivers / operators still have a fair bit of genuine control / responsibility for safe operation. Steep hills, relatively primitive braking systems; My memory is of multiple redundant systems, including one "Full desperation, God help us emergency system" Which can make a real mess of things if ever deployed. Always wanted to tour the underground vaults where the pulley wheels and power distribution happens. Either that or take a midnight picnic with a like minded girl, to watch them replace the cables:D. They do it on a fairly regular basis, in the dead of night.

This November in the general election, Arizona will have Prop 205, a bill proposing the legalization of marijuana. I haven't smoked that stuff in over fifteen years, but even I can figure where the bill got its number. Can you?

Back from Cancun yesterday.....it's quite the adjustment going from sitting in a pool for 8 hours to sitting at my desk for 13. :(

Being a school teacher, long holidays in the summer. Term starts next week.

Pork dumplings for lunch.

Among my souvenirs picked-up in Inner Mongolia, a few stones, a 44 year old radio, and a poster of Xi Jinping...
