NOUGAT 7.0 WILL be released for this phone with a patch.
Concern is 6.0.1 marshmallow unrootable.
Nougat might be impossible.
Hopefully the patch will enable fastboot at user level.
Just wishing and hoping...
Zte plays ball then we can be happy and well satisfied customers.
Still for $99 you get android N 7.0 on a 6" HD screen. Still worth the buy..... NOW..
Nexus device's with nougat just got root . So the wait on this device will be over a year.
I never depend on kingroot. No one should.
They are two different apps. The one with the crown icon is the current version and the one with the lightning bolt icon appears to be a hacked version of Kingroot 4.0 or 4.1 and is probably malware.i have two different kingroot apps. one that i downloaded from their website(on the left of my homescreen), and one from a third-party apk hosting site (on the right of my homescreen).

the one on the left shows 18.6k people, while the one on the right shows 3.5k people. weird thing is they're both v4.9.6

I uninstalled the app and delete the old apk and re-download it from: https://kingroot.net/wap/download
And you are right on the wetsite it shows one with the crown icon, but after I re-install it, it shows one with the lightning bolt icon.
Actually, although you can change the LCD density by editing the build.prop (which requires root) it would require that a line be added because our build.prop doesn't have any line that sets the LCD density. Also, spoofing the ZMAX Pro to look like another device would require the phone to already be rooted so that's a no go.battery is one reason i wanna keep this phone and hope we get root. i was playing some pretty intense games earlier and wow. battery is so good. btw, i read on the kingroot xda post that they were able to root Nougat on nexus devices. you think we could spoof our device as another device running 6.0.1? since we were able to change screen density which is a value in the build.prop, do you think we could change other ones via adb?
an exploit in nougat had chance of being in marshmallow. not %100 guaranteed, but its still worth a shot.

the thing about that is that the Axon 7 is their "flagship" you could say. that device is the one they want to provide the most support too because its part of their main line up of devices. the zmax pro isnt on the same level as the Axon 7 in terms of relevance. The only thing i need on the zmax pro is root and a way to flashback stock. custom roms would be pretty dope, but stock rom with xposed and support for layers is enough for me tbh. i know people have different needs and such, but lets be real for a minute. that wouldn't happen with the zmax pro.Hi all, first time posting in here, but came across this and thought I'd share. It is in reference to the Axon 7, but still ZTE, so maybe there is a chance the bootloader could be unlocked for our phone as well. It's an article from XDA stating that ZTE looks to be trying to work with CyanogenMod on CM14 for the Axon 7:

A lot of people including myself have tried contacting zte about things like finding out if the bootloader is unlocked or a possible way of getting our hands on the stock firmware and a PC based tool to flash it. Their standard answer is to say thank you for contacting them and that they don't support unlocking the bootloader. The bootloader could already be unlocked and you could just be inquiring about whether it is locked or not and that is still the answer you get. When I contacted them I asked about a way to ACCESS the bootloader for the purpose of reinstalling the stock firmware. I still got the same answer that they don't support UNLOCKING the bootloader when I didn't even ask about unlocking it. I merely asked about how to access it so I could resurrect my bricked ZMAX.the thing about that is that the Axon 7 is their "flagship" you could say. that device is the one they want to provide the most support too because its part of their main line up of devices. the zmax pro isnt on the same level as the Axon 7 in terms of relevance. another thing, has anyone called zte about the zmax pro bootloader and things like that? just wondering if they did so i could hear what the had to say. i was thinking about calling earlier but i had some things to do.

Root won't be null, just harder and harder to come by, same as what's happening in the pirated games sector, the security will just get tighter till the point that it is rare, except for nexus/pixel and other carrier free devices/dev friendly deviceslol Unless you work for an O.E.M or the Government then please shhhhhh.
On that note, we will likely need a hardware vulnerability to get started on a root for most devices from now on. Any chance in hell that someone has done a teardown on this phone to see if it has pads for COM ports or a JTAG header?lol Unless you work for an O.E.M or the Government then please shhhhhh.
Wisest words I've ever heard in an Android forumI don't understand why people are giving up. I'm sorry, since when does an Android phone not get root? Someone will root this phone eventually. Not today, not tomorrow. We just gotta wait. It's only a matter of time until someone with the right knowledge and know how will get this phone and do it for us. We just have to wait. Every single Android device I have ever owned has been rooted, and I've owned a shit ton of devices! We just have to wait.
