Help 2.1 Problems - Issues - Quirks

I'm using the leak and the volume down still makes the phone snooze. This must of been one of the little changes from the leak to official.

@Hero_User 2010 ....
I HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!! I posted about it in another forum. If this is going to be a problem this phone is gone & so is Sprint!! I posted about it in another thread but thought I'd look around & see if anyone else is having problems. Someone said they were having the same problem & just did a soft reset on their phone. I've done that but haven't been able to get anyone to call me yet to see if it worked. I'll let you know. :)
Sounds good.

I had my fiance call me this evening after having the phone running for a bit after my last reboot (which I wrote about earlier) and she said it rang 4 times before I was able to see the image on my phone to answer the call. It used to be 2-3 times on the 1.5 version of Android. This sux... I was expecting sooo much for. Especially for the long wait, I'm surprised issues like these (somethings that are so important) are happening.

I'll keep ya posted if I find anything else about it as I'm going to continue to research it.

He was asking about turning off the "new" vibrate chirp when a call connects, not when typing...

Yep, that's a new "feature" that's been around since the first leaks of 2.1

Some people like it, some people hate it.

I have no idea why HTC would add new things like this without the ability to turn it off. In my opinion, anything that lights up or makes noise should be easily disabled/enabled. Apparently, the engineers at HTC don't share my viewpoint.

Tried this. It was set to snooze when i first looked at it. Changed it to dismiss, then back to snooze and it still doesn't work. But hitting the back button turned it off, now i'm just waiting to see if it dismisses to alarm, or if it'll come back on in 5 minutes...

Oh, trying to hit the snooze on the screen this morning didn't work. I had to dismiss it by sliding down. Nothing happened when i hit snooze, the alarm kept going off.

Again....the "UPDATE FIX" listed for this issue isn't working for me. Did YOU personally test this on your own phone?? Try it...see if the side buttons snooze alarms for you...if not, we need to edit out the "UPDATE FIX"

So apparently the haptic feedback on the dialer keys is not able to be disabled? That is ridiculous, it drive me absolutely insane to have the damn phone vibrate every time I try to make a call. I was really hoping that it would be able to be turned off.

Did anyone ever figure out if we can save apps to the SD card now? If not, is there a ROM out there that can, because that's a big enough negative that I'd be interested in rooting (if I can figure it out, I've read through it 3x and am still confused, and don't want to use one of the "auto" rooters).

Speaking of annoyances with 2.1, can anyone help me out with this one?

I have LED notifications turned OFF for email (Menu/Settings/Sound & Display). This works fine for my Exchange account, no flashing LED, just a notification in the task bar when new mail arrives.

But, when I get gMail, I get notification in the task bar, but I ALSO get the flashing LED. Under settings in the gMail application, I have notifications turned on (w/ silent ringtone) but it only refers to the taskbar notification. This gets me the taskbar notification. No mention about, and no way to disable, the LED flash. The only "workaround" I've found is to not let gMail synchronize automatically (because I don't want the LED flashing whenever I happen to get mail).

Why would they add this "feature" to flash the LED whether you want it or not, with no way to disable it? Am I missing something? Has anyone else found a way to get just a taskbar notification without an LED flash? As I said, it works correctly with my Exchange mail, just not with my gMail account.

Help!

That's correct. Learn to live with it.

Most custom ROMs (if not all) have app2sd which lets you do this. If you haven't upgraded to 2.1, Flipz Fresh Kitchen is pretty much foolproof to get you rooted with a custom ROM.

If you've already upgraded to 2.1, (since you have the dialer buzz, you apparently have) you're stuck for the time being. You won't be able to root until the dev's come up with a hack for 2.1.

I, too, am having problems with a flaky BT connection in my car. It pairs fine and connects. But, sometimes I get no sound through the speakers.

What I discovered is that, if I start my car with BT disabled on the phone, then start BT, I get sound. Leave the car, turn off BT.

Kind of annoying, but a temporary fix for me, at least.

Yea, the "UPDATED FIX" doesn't work for me either. Everyone should try it and see if it works for them.

OK, this is like being on dial-up again. I'm on what I thought was a speedy cable connection, but downloading this 118mb 2.1 update file is taking like 10 hours via a cable connection. WTF????

Download the update, but before I did anything used MyBackup Pro to backup all my apps and systems settings. After install, my HTC sense screens were all empty, except a few misplaced icons, so I restored everything with MyBack. Then I had to check each icon (I have 68 apps) and test them. Some I had to add i.d. logons, some I just had to agree to the T&C's again. It was like installing a new release of Windows! OK - got it all working after a couple of hours. Then on one reboot it all disappeared again. This time I only restored Android System Settings with MyBackup, because I saw all my apps were still on the phone - just not on the HTC Sense screens. Restored and had to check out all the icons again. Some were still OK, but a few were no functional. Then I did another backup of System Settings using MyBackup Pro, rebooted and all seems fine. I'm guessing I still have some work to do, but if you have a bunch of apps, at least for me, it takes several hours to get it all back in shape (including digging up all you signon i.d.'s and passwords).

GPS- Saying I'm all over NY state...but I'm sitting in my house in Upstate NY...unless it has wheels...I just want it to say where I am never had this before 2.1

Vignette- A camera app I use has not been responding well at all, after 2.1 and that breaks my heart lol to be honest

MMS- Has been a little wonky not notifying me when I get them but thy're there lol

Would a factory reset work? just getting it to snap back into working condition? I'm willing to try anything lol

Keyboard is fast in email, and text. But the entire dialer is very laggy. And sometimes in a menu tree, the phone will open up a second line, and start dialing the numbers you entered. And put the actual call on hold.

this problem is annoying the hell out of me.

Is anyone else having a problem with their mail widget showing unread messages? Mine displays I have however many number of unread messages but after I read them the number still appears and does not go away. I am using the mail app and a Yahoo email address. Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Yes I have been seeing this issue also. I can get it to go away sometimes if i go into and email and delete from there.

Issue I see and posted elsewhere about is with the contacts pulling all contacts and no way to choose my contacts only. In 1.5 we could select this option by going into groups and settings and un-selecting all contacts.

Ok is it just me or has anyone noticed we cant set ringtones for different contacts anymore...?

You can. I think before you had to set it in the edit screen. Now, open the contact you want to assign a ringtone to and scroll down a little to the information area.

I have a pretty good problem since I installed the 2.1 update yesterday. Before the update if I was using the data services such as the browser or the market it would stop the data service and let me know there is an incoming call. Since the 2.1 update when I am using the market or other data services it sends the call directly to vmail. It also sends the call to vmail if the background data is running as well such as having it automatically check my e-mail or update my calendar. I have dug through the settings multiple times and turned on and off DDTM mode and it keeps sending the calls to vmail. I have also tried turning call guard on and off under mobile network settings.

I have been scouring the web trying to see if there is a solution to this problem but I have not run into anything. Is anyone else having this problem or is this an isolated incident? It is really getting annoying not getting my phone calls. The only solution I have found for my problem is turning internet completely off or I have been telling everyone that calls me to text me if they get vmail right away and will call them back. Thanks in advance for any advice on my problem.

When I update to 2.1 will I lose my contacts? What about the apps that I already have?
