E-mail from 12/31/1969 ??

That's the day before Unix epoch...1-1-1970. So my GUESS is that you have an issue within your current file structure that relates to time output. However, I have no idea where to look. :o

By any chance have you recently downloaded any apps who's primary purpose has to do with time or date management? Calendar app for example. Or anything else you can think of that would coincide with this problem.

This is how it shows up for me 1969-12-31
I used to get it in my email but I havent seen one for about 6 months, but now when I look at comments on Facebook there it is.....just a random date with no comments or anything. It is starting to get annoying not knowing what this means or what to do about it!

Hi Becky, welcome to AF! I've merged your thread in with the existing thread we have on the issue. :)

I don't know what's going on but I'm glad I'm not alone. Thought I was going crazy since this year started and I first saw that in my email. Not once or twice but 3 times.

Hopefully this thread isn't closed.

I have been getting a serious "rash" of these 12/31/1969 emails from many different companies since fall of 2018.

I attribute this to morons who claim they know how to program computers, but in reality can't even program a VCR or Smart Watch.

well from what i know that date like it was mentioned earlier is the date unix was released. they use that date to emphasize an error in reading the date time stamp.

Have had AOL app for years. Dont know about that other stuff.

Unix Epoch?
Sounds like a venereal disease:D
Ha ha ha. :) No, it's basically just a nerdy way of saying that's when UNIX started keeping time. On UNIX systems (which include Linux and, therefore, Android), timekeeping has been measured in seconds(?) since the epoch.

(I'm a bit rusty on UNIX history right now; someone else may offer a better explanation.)

so are you using aol as your email acct? is this where you are getting these weird emails?

Yes, I am getting them on my phone, but they don't show up on my AOL email when I log in on my pc.

They are all from companies I have accounts with, mainly restaurants and online order companies.

This from my drive. On previous phones starting with a Nokia X2X I had a file marked 1969 nothing was in it. On my pixel 3 I have this 1970 file:thinking:
