Accessories Seidio 1600mAh extended life battery

which of the batteries in the table at BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims! are actually compatible with the desire?

N1 batteries are the same as the desire. Guess we have our answer lads.

82-85% capacity

1312-1360 Mah

(according to the test above it's actually 1305 mah for these so called extended batteries! So these batteries seem more of a scam than anything else.)

These extended batteries are not worth it, and are not extended

interesting, where did you get it from?

I can't remember now, it was a shop listed in Google Shopping. I think it was SuperEtrader.

All I do is carry that and the USB cable. Whenever I am using the phone a lot I plug it in. It tends to keep the battery above what you're using (charging slowly while using power).

SuperEtrader does intl. shipping, but they ask for a bank payment. No CCs and I guess no PayPal, but also no VAT..which costs almost as much as the shipping.

The alternative would be eBay, but only one seller sells this particular model there and they do not ship outside the US. I will have to ask a friend if she can pick it up for me, as on eBay it costs "only" $60 (plus a free US shipping) :)

I once bought a Seidio extended life battery for my BlackBerry and after a while the battery stopped charging. I thought it was my phone until I replaced the original battery and it started working fine. Don't believe their hype, at all.

Hi, sorry for kind a off topic ( I'm new here ), but does anybody have problem with htc desire OVERHEATING if used during charging?? ( battery managing apps, show temp around 40C / 103 F !!) I own my phone for about 2 weeks now, and this issue really bothers me, I was thinking about getting different battery, like that seidio you mentioning here, but I can not be sure whether will that help or not.

Overheating? 40c isn't overheating. Anywhere between 25-50c is optimal.

40C optimal? could you please state your source of that info, because I can not find it anywhere.
btw, once, during that "hot session" my phone system freeze so badly that the only thing that I could do to reboot it, was to remove the battery. It is not like I don't believe you, it just kinda freaks my out, I just really like my phone and I don't want to have it broken.
cheers

Important Safe Use Document for Lithium Polymer Batteries Including Thunder Power RC LiPolys - Draganfly Innovations Inc.

Operating Temperature:

  • Charge:
    • 32 to 113 degrees F
    • Let battery cool down to an ambient temperature before charging.
  • Discharge:
    • 32 to 140 degrees F
    • During discharge and handling of batteries, do not exceed 160 degrees F.
  • Battery Life
    • Batteries that lose 20% of their capacity must be removed from service and disposed of properly.
    • Discharge the battery to 3V/Cell, making sure output wires are insulated, then wrap battery in a bag for disposal.

Although that is for RC batteries, the same temperatures still apply (RC use more power and thus get hotter anyway).

You can also look at the label on the battery for it's max safe temperature. On my Milestone it is 60c (don't know what my Desire is but I expect it to be the same).

That's only three degrees hotter than you or me, you know.

It does get hot if you use it while charging, but not so hot that it would cause damage. I'm also pretty sure that the battery has a safeguard in place to prevent extreme overheating. Open to correction.

You are correct. LiPo batteries aren't charged by traditional methods. They must be charged "logically" (i.e. by a processor), you can't just apply a current and charge it in other words, it needs to be controlled.

Has anyone seen this, you can pre-order it now. Comes with extended battery and new back for the phone, will this be the proper extended battery? HTC DESIRE SYNC CRADLE WITH BATTERY SLOT AND EXTENDED LIFE BATTERY - HTC Desire Just found this aswell, looks promising. Buy Mugen Power Extended Battery for HTC Desire A8181 with battery cover in Brown 3200mAh [HLI-DesireXL]
Hmmm...the former is cheap (too cheap?), and they don't give any power ratings, while the latter seems more like the real thing - but $79? (not too cheap :p)

Anyone tried this one or have any thoughts on it and its use ?

looking for a good simple device that will work with the phone will away, but will also work with my Archos 5 as well

Portable Power Supplies - Portapow USB Battery

I have just bought one.

Leaving my Desire on charge all night in airplane mode it gives me about 1.5 charges. I've only had it a week, so it might give me 2 full charges after I've used it for a bit and it's working at maximum capicity.

Jazz,

Did they ever get back to you? I emailed them three times and got no reply. You can bet if I'd been asking about anything else they would have written back

Did you turn on Wi-Fi when charging? I think that services cause you HTC Desire Temp more warm
