Root [ROM] Android 2.2 FroYo - Brought to you by MDW (OC & Flash 10.1!)

Here are some screenshots showing my setup as mentioned previously...This may come in handy if people dislike the stock notification panel as much as I do lol :)

Showing the FlyScreen lock screen with the ability to access the notification panel.

Showing the main home screen with the notification panel hidden and then the action of the menu button bringing the notification panel back into view.

Edit: The point of this (in case it isn't clear) is that you can hide your notification panel when your phone is unlocked but you still have lots of access to it so you don't miss any important notifications...

The included LauncherPro also supports Notification Bar hiding, for those not wanting another app....

But the abilities of this app are too good for me not to try it - thanks, again, UBR - yet another fine recommendation from ya.

Anyone had any luck getting fix permissions to work un rom manager? I keep getting an error while trying to access user permissions error when running it... Also the new juice defender does not work with this...

also.....Fab how do you get your icons colored and not grey on launcherpro....have browsed the preferences but i must be missing it. Thanks
Long-press one of the current icons to bring up a menu for replacing with custom app (choose same app or a new one). Choose default icon in following menu and you have color icons. :)

I'm having a problem with the OC kernels. I've got 2.2 running, and I'm rooted again. All of the kernels I've tried won't install. I downloaded them, renamed to "update" (not update.zip, since it's already a zip file), and put them in the root directory on the SD card.

When I boot into SPRecovery, go to Install, Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated), I get:

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:update.zip install blocked
Installation aborted.

Can't get past this part. Can I get a little help?? :D

That's because you didn't "allow update.zip" first.

NP. Like I said, the flyscreen app can have issues with having to deal with two lock screens (but I'm hoping they iron it out...it's a cool little app).

LauncherPro isn't included in the Froyo ROM is it? That is the app that I used to hide the panel.

That IME is probably for 2.1 ROMs and thus will not work on 2.2 - that would be my guess, anyway.

yea i figured that much, just didn't know if somebody had a working 2.2 version....i just loathe the stock keyboard and swype is good but i've gotten used to the htc keyboard

My outstanding problems:
1) Hulu claims I'm using an anonymous proxy tool when using the about:debug mode with the widget/player site. This isn't intentional so how do I fix it? Occurs on both my home wi-fi signal and 3G.
2) I don't see an option for wi-fi hotspot tethering
Anyone having similar issues or know of a fix?

Not sure how to help you, since the widget site works fine for me. You mentioned the about:debug, but did you change it to "desktop"?

Yup - your choice of launchers is the stock 2.2 launcher (which I am guessing is the same as the stock 2.1 launcher) or LauncherPro.

Don't knock this until you try it.

1. Enter about:debug in your stock browser's address bar (it will look like nothing happens).
2. Hit you menu, go to More | Settings -- scroll to the very bottom, choose "UAString" and change it to "Desktop".
3. Go to this URL:

Code:
http://www.hulu.com/widget/player

You're welcome :-)

Alright, so I followed these instructions and this is what I get on every video I tried:

Any ideas?

Give me the error too - but then it flashed Clockwork without a problem, so I am assuming that it actually works.

I think it may develop issues when you try to flash another ROM, though, as it may not be able to run the scripted commands that you set like wiping partitions and such.

After going through the process earlier today i was able to watch about 2 min of a show before it kicked me out. upon reloading it i'm getting the same message as you on every show. I'm just gonna give up on hulu and go for another tv website....any suggestions.

how do we go by installing it

There're 2 .apk's in there. Put em on your sd card, use ASTRO to install.

It does FC when you slide out the hard keyboard though...I might just switch back to the default.

For those getting the "error" in hulu about an anonymous proxy:

1) Launch stock broswer.
2) In URL field, type "about:debug" (minus the quotes)
3) Click menu button, click on "more", then choose settings.
4) Scroll to bottom of settings and you should see option for UAString
(You will only see this option if you completed step 2)
5) Change UAString to "desktop"
6) Browse to hulu.com/widget/player and watch your video

From my limited trial, it appears that each time browser is restarted, you have to complete the above steps again to reset the UAString. I'm watching the LOST series finale (again) on my Droid as we speak ;)

Or, alternatively, upzip on your computer, and use adb to install it after connecting your phone to your computer via a USB cable.

There is the key, methinks....

download, place on sd card(if you downloaded on your computers browser), unzip(use astro) and run the htc_ime_hi22.apk(using astro)

Thanks Guys. Outside of the topic. If the world had nice and helpful people like we have here, the world would be in peace and no wars would exist. :D

@Fab...Thanks for that site...It's great and comes down better than Hulu! (tvshack.net). There is one ad in particular I can't seem to close, but if you go back a time or 2 and relaunch it goes to a different ad that I can close...Thanks again!
