Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

actually, i believe turning off mobile network changes it to 2G. i think.

yeah that's what i was originally looking for. but when i turn off mobile networks i can't connect to anything on the web. it won't even update weather. pandora won't load. it seems with mobile network off that i can only send/receive calls and text messages.

okay, so what i think it's doing, in that case, is turning off all data. there's a way to go to 2G but i don't remember. there's sooooooo many freaking settings in this phone that you can change, it's crazy lol. very overwhelming for a n00b like myself. anyway, even going to 2G (i've read) over 3G doesn't give you that much of a performance increase.

regardless. i started a new battery test today.

auto-sync and background data enabled this time. i kept my accounts at sync every 4hrs. this way, i still get email as soon as it comes.

after 8hrs, i'm at 79% :p
that equates to ~38hrs on one charge man. wow. just...wow.

HTC confirmed there is a problem with the battery.

1. Their suggestion is to charge it while on until the light turns green.

2. immediately turn it off and charge it again until it turns green.

3. and once again immediately turn it back off and charge it again till green.

Repeat that process until the on and off charge are both green..

background data is on, auto sync off. my yahoo mail syncs about 5 or 6 times a day due to the on peak off peak settings. i have surfed the market even installed a couple apps. surfed the web quite a bit. loaded sprint tv to watch a little of the world cup concert and the RSA vs mexico game this morning (mostly just to check out the tv function).

i'm at 30 hours up on this charge with 1/3 battery life left. :D

this info is official from HTC?

i'm not surprised i've notice my battery bar going from 1/4 to half once after rebooting.

IF your have issues with battery life give this a whirl.. On one of my units the initial on off charge was 20-30 min difference before it synced..

Have not tested it out yet..

I haven't been having battery problems. Yesterday I downloaded the Network app and kept my phone on all night, I'm at just under half charge (last charge was yesterday morning).

That's weird, I see all these posts about the battery. I haven't had any problems.

I'm at 60% left. I've been using the phone for the past 10 hrs..:)

I will give this a try and report back...urgh im so hating on you guys with the great battery life... I average 4 hours per full charge

im not sure how to interpret this. Is this a permanent battery fix, or something you need to keep doing?

I'm swearing by the GSM/CDMA tweak. It's been marvelous.

im on 8 1/2 hrs with 50% left. most i have gotten out of it in the past is about 22 hrs of lightish use but def not babying the battery.

is this the tweak when you dial that number *#*#4636*#*# or whatever then select something or am i thinking of something diff

hmm well then i hope they fix the battery and send us replacements (or allow us to get them through sprint store exchange)

do you charge it while its on after you already charge it while its off?

like i understand you charge it till green while on.

then turn it off and charge till green.

do i turn it back on and charge it or just turn it on then off then charge while off? im thinking you mean the second option.

so, just to clarify:
1. charge until green.
2. turn off, (then back on? Or do we charge it while off?) charge again until green.
3. Turn off (same question as #2), charge again

I might give this a shot, but my battery life really isn't even too bad. I do a whole lot of texting/emailing web browsing, video watching, etc, and I won't have to charge it from when I wake up to when I go to bed (and usually is at about 25-50% when I do charge)

edit: darn, lyons beat me to it :)

P.S. can we get a source for this HTC battery suggestion?

I am with you, I have 40% left and I have used it the past 10 hrs also.. But I have also did alot of app downloading, alot of web browsing, twitter/facebook, and uploaded 2 videos to Qik and then shared them both to twitter and facebook, and a few phone calls...

turn on and charge til green.

Turn it off and charge while off til green and keep repeating the cycle.

Interesting little tweak, since I've been doing this with all my phones for as long as I can remember.

oh wow, interesting. I charged it until it was green, unplugged it, restarted and now I am charging again. It still hasn't turned green (I transferred a couple mp3's before charging) - this may hold some water after all!

What I wonder, though, is if doing this once will initiate the phone to know the "real" 100%, and not have to charge/off/charge/off/charge

Which light? the one at the speaker grill at the top front of the device? Although its 3 steps I am confused.

Interesting, I'll try this tonight. My battery life hasn't been bad, but it's worth a shot.

I have noticed that immediately after taking the phone off of the charger, it drops to 97% and within an hour its almost 85% with light usage. It evens out the rest of the day though.

Yes the green charge light under the speaker grill..

So turn your phone on and charge it. the light goes green..

Immediately turn it off and charge it till the light goes green.

Turn it back on and charge it till it goes green..

I did it about 4-6 times per device

Repeat process and keep Wine glass full while waiting..
