Help Possible Battery Fix from HTC

turn on and charge til green.

Turn it off and charge while off til green and keep repeating the cycle.

Are you unplugging it every time you turn the power on or off or are you just leaving it plugged in?

Could you also give more details on the reasoning for this? Is this a one time fix or is it required every time we charge the phone?

Hate to be adding another question to a seemingly simple process, maybe it doesn't even matter.

I will give this a try and report back...urgh im so hating on you guys with the great battery life... I average 4 hours per full charge

mine isn't this bad...right now i am at 30-40% with just about 7 hours off the charger...but i have hardly used the phone at all :(...i think some of the batteries are just flat out better then others

Ok...I've done this about a dozen times now and there is always about a 5 minute difference. How many times did you do it before the difference went away?

I did a few phones and the average was about 6 times.. They all did not sync..

This make no sense whatsoever. I will try it though and I haven't had any problems with the battery, anyway.

BUT,

If you charge it while it's ON until it's Green, OK......
If you turn it off and charge it again, it should be green IMMEDIATELY (you haven't used any battery), then what are we doing????

Does this make sense?

so if there is a defect in the batteries, are they going to supply us with new ones, or do we have to do this ghetto ass off and on trick everytime

When you charge while it is on and turn it off and charge it again while it is off there is about a 20 minute delay before the light turns green again.

This might might not be the case on all the phones.. Might be just the ones with batteries that are given problems.

Repeat process and keep Wine glass full while waiting..
lol

Cool, I'm doing it now.

So do it once each step or do all steps 4-6 times.

Edit: On second try after turning off the device, the led light is amber, so I will do it 4-5 more times and see.

Edit #2:
btw, I am also doing these steps on my Hero and after powering down it stays green, so there is a difference. It doesn't do it on the EVO. On my fourth reboot.

You probably could just swap it if you need to.

But its Friday and I had nothing else to do but call tech support and shoot the shit..

Some of my best friends are ghetto.. :D

is this something we should do all the time or just once a month or so? because i know that its good to fully drain, then fully charge...rinse, repeat, and lather once or so a month to make sure the batt meter is in sync

I am trying this tonight, although my battery is by no means bad. I have been off the charger for 12 hours and had 47% left. Still, I noticed the same thing the above poster did about the immediate drop when you unplug. Worth a shot! It can only get better.

The *#*#4636#*#* Test to see if your radio is set correctly?

Have you check that yet T.S. and others???

I got that one off of XDA developers forum I think I saw it posted her to but I can't find it.. Some of the phones were set to GSM and not to CDMA..

Not yet, I am at the 6th reboot. After shutting down the light still stays amber for a few seconds up to one minute. It hasn't stayed green immediately.

Just done the 6th, now rebooting and doing the steps for the 7th time.

Radio Error
The *#*#4636#*#* Test to see if your radio is set correctly?
I checked this in the last reboot and it shows in the Phone INfo section that I am EvDo only. I am changing it to CDMA auto (PRL) (I hope thats the right setting) lol

I am guessing this *may* be forcing the phone to learn the proper full charge level. If so, should only need to do once.

And if this fixes it, why would they need to send us a replacement?

i just did it..... guess my battery was ok.... charge to full.... turn off..... charge again took like 2 mins..... turn on instant green

and my battery has been pretty good anyways
