Official GSM Hero 2.1 Thread

The exact same message is posted on the Europe wide site, so it seems to be generic :)

"The new Build number after the update will be 2.73.405.93; 2.73.405.94 (Nordic) & 2.73.405.95 (Greece/ Ireland)."

This doesn't sound as 2.1, doesn't it? :)

It's just update for FOTA client :)

My hero has been updated right now... Nothing happend, just build number is now 2.73.405.93 ... I think, this is just update what prepare your phone to 2.1 update... To get this update right now you have to set date in your hero 1 month forward... :)

CONFIRMED

After i set the date to 15 07 2010 it immideately checked and found an update.

I guess that setting it a month ahead tricks the phone into thinking it has been a long time since it last checked for update and run the checker at once.

Hmadsen

my update gets halfway through then just come up with a triangle with an explination mark inside it

this is for t-mobile in the uk

2.73.405.95 for me (uk sim free) firmware still 1.5 :(

also have the new option for system software update with a 'check now' button.

Just pushed the date forward by a month and it prompted the update within 30 seconds.

My unbranded/sim-free UK Hero is now:

2.73.405.93

Now to resist pressing the 'Check Now' button on the System software updates screen!

:p

If mine is unbranded, uk sim free, and so is yours, why do we have different values ?

What carrier are you with ? (I'm on Orange).

PS - the check now says there are no updates available :(

Changing the date seems to work - mine immediately updated. I'm on an unbranded handset on Vodafone. New build number is 2.73.405.93.

I see that there's now a System Software Update option on the About Phone menu that wasn't there before that allows you to check to see if there are any further updates.

Any ideas when the actual firmware update is going to appear? Days or weeks?

I'm on o2. Strange.

Perhaps the carrier is relevant even on unbranded phones...

And I meant I have to resist constantly pressing the check now button. Must have pressed it quite a few times in the last 2 hours!

Just noticed this comment on a 2.1 news story.. interesting

"I changed the date on my phone from June to July and restarted the phone and got the OTA notification as soon as i connected to my home wifi.
