if the screen was really 720p that would hit gaming performance by quite a bit. Thats too much pixels for the GPU to push.

We will get an official forum name change tommorow. I talked to one of the mods. Please be patient. Vzw teasers!
I'm pretty sure most of the people in this thread can't be patient with the release creeping up on us.![]()
Just wanted to see if anybody knows if this will have 4G or not. Kind of the deal breaker for me. I won't upgrade until there is a good phone on Verizon with 4g, even if the service isn't available yet.
Thanks!
+1Front facing cameras and video chat are only going to work if BOTH parties have them and BOTH parties are in 4g coverage areas. So until BOTH of those conditions are standard I honestly don't see the big deal with the front camera.

I agree VZW might have an LTE phone by the end of the year but I doubt it, it won't really be til Q1 of next year or maybe even Q2/Q3 based off what VZW has said. The reason why this phone doesn't have a front facing camera is because it would only be usable via WiFi since VZW's 3G network wouldn't be able to handle all the video calls.Front facing cameras and video chat are only going to work if BOTH parties have them and BOTH parties are in 4g coverage areas. By the time LTE is readily available which will probably be 2012 we'll be due for another phone and if it's available sometime in 2011 you can still upgrade after a year even if you go with the 2 year contract.
Well that's true and I do believe we'll see a Motorola phone on Verizon with a front facing camera before LTE arrives I just don't know if VZW will allow it to work over 3G unless the video quality is really compressed or low res.Not necessarily true. I was looking at the EVO and the sales guy did a 3G test on the video chat via Fring. While it didn't work very well, it still worked. It could be done but I really feel Motorola had just been too far in production to go back and add one.
because companies like skype and fring are working on video chat apps for both iphone and android, which will work on 3g. So yes if you get a new phone today without a front facing camera you are already behind
I haven't used a phone with motoblur but people that are familiar with it have said you can turn off blur completely during the boot up process of the phone by entering in #bluroff or something to that effect and then you'd be running stock android, dunno if this still would be possible with this version of blur but it's possible. So how does everyone feel about MotoBlur? Seems like a few people with eval units are coming to various forums to talk about this phone. I specifically asked one person if MotoBlur can be completely disabled and he said while you can remove all of the widgets (obviously) you can't go back to stock Android on the phone. I didn't expect that to be the case but some people have been saying that you could do such a thing.
I'd expect the Droid 2 to have this new version of MotoBlur as well. *sigh* Hopefully the phone will be easily rooted.
I just started looking into the Droid X more and this is my first post in these forums, so go easy on me if this has already been asked... do we have any idea about a release date for this phone?
Any idea how the case manufacturers are gonna handle the "hump back" I can't stand NOT to have a case on my phone. I have never bought a phone so new the accesories weren't out yet. Thoughts? Do you think verizon might have a cheapy case that will work until Siedo and Otterbox get in gear?
