HTC Incredible VS. Droid X

I have an Incredible and an EVO...Seriously, the EVO feels like an Adult phone, and the Incredible feels like a kids phone...SIZE WISE! However the incredible is light years faster and snappier, without a doubt. There not close in size at all, and the Droid X is even larger then the EVO. It looks mammoth in the Engadget video! Also thumbs down to Motorola for putting such a LARGE bezel on it, and adding that mirror finish to it as well. It does look thin, but a tad too wide to handle one handed. The verdict will come when it gets released. I happen to love sense, I just wish HTC's build quality was as good as Motorola's.

I held my incredible next to an EVO and the EVO wasnt that much bigger so not quite sure where you say the EVO is so much bigger then the incredible

Also to the remark that it's too wide to handle with one hand, do you require 2 hands when using the inc? Because the X is .2" wider. Don't take these as arguing comments, just pointing out the numbers that most people tend to ignore.

the x dwarfs the incredible and is even bigger than the evo. seems like they're creating a tablet phone segment between regular phones and tablet devices like the ipad. that's larger than my preference, but will work for others. these pics may not be the most flattering, but they give you a good idea.

in terms of raw specs and hardware the x will outperform the incredible. that said, it's pretty well known and acknowledged in almost every review that the incredible is very fast and possibly the fastest and smoothest phone on the market right now. the x will be the new owner of the speed crown when it comes out, but that won't change the fact that the incredible is a very good phone in it's own right.

You guys really think the EVO is nice? It seems to fall short for me in terms of aesthetics. Bezel is too big.

The bigger a device is, the more pleasing the design needs to be for you to palette the extra size that would otherwise turn you off. The EVO doesn't achieve this. I only like the front facing camera which is actually very nice.

The Moto X, if the OMAP processor truly sips juice compared to the Snapdragon, may negate that power savings because of its larger screen (compared to the Incredible). I don't know. Oh, and I always thought that Moto QC sucks, but the Droid seems good (I like the Gorilla Glass screen).

I think the nicest device to utilize the 4.3" screen is the HD2. I think it's nicer than the EVO in terms of industrial design and feel in the hand. It just feels solid and sexy.

The sweet spot for screens I think is about 4" and the Galaxy S will prove that Super AMOLED is the badass tech that all manufacturers should play catch up with.

I hate that the Galaxy S has a weird, iPhone imitating UI and I hope that can be turned off and the phone reverted to vanilla Android. Also, I hear Samsung has the worst support for its phones and pretty much neglects them in terms of software updates. Such shame. Each company seems to do at least one thing really well; why not learn from ALL companies and try to do it ALL well? (design, software, materials, etc.)

One day...

Bad geometry and ergonomics point, since you must consider the entire volume area of the device. Evo and Hd2 are both awkward to use with one hand and not run into risk of dropping. Reviews and most users all agree on this- except the larger handed folks, of course.

I have used both devices and agree that one hand operation is not practical.

"Beer", it's what's for dinner.

Actually the X isn't that much larger than the incredible. Its actually thinner. And battery life is almost guaranteed to be much better. The omap processor blows snapdragon out of the water in performance and power usage. The X also sports a 1530mah battery. early reports from testers put the X's battery life between amazing and unbelievable. You can check out that sizeasy. Sized Up: Droid X vs Incredible

Where are these early reports on battery life? I couldn't find anything at Engadget, which I think has the only preview of the X so far.

The Droid X looks alright, but it doesn't have enough WOW factor for me to switch from my Incredible.

Does the Droid X have AMOLED? Cause after looking at my friend's Droid's and iPhone's... Boo to TFT's! Those screens look like those shirts you've worn for years without the proper color detergent :D (I don't care about the sunshine issue because as soon as you put the Incredible in your shadow, it's comparable to a TFT's visibility)

Multitouch keyboard? Swype kind of takes care of this. Might make Gameboid a better experience though...

Front facing camera? It's time to get those brain cells working to make one of those mirror setups to use Fring. :p Kind of ridiculous I know, but I don't really plan on using it too much anyways. Novelty~

720p? Coming from a LG Dare that had pixelated monstrosities blabbering and shape-shifting throughout any videos I recorded, the Incredible's is sufficient.

Design? I like both of them~

Size? I have pretty small hands and yesterday I saw a guy that had small hands holding an EVO (he was asking me for a charger at 7PM hehe). Seemed a bit big. There was a ton of screen on that thing though! + for that. Meh, I'll stick to the Incredible.

Is there an echo in here? ;)

Lol I know I know. But it keeps getting echo'd how the X is so monstrous that it deserves its own zip code. I assumed the other link had been getting overlooked or something. I do think that site shows that these phones with huge screens don't have to be much bigger than our incredibles. Assuming you've never handled one.

First I want to say that I think all of these new phones are fantastic (from what we know of them of course). I think depending on some simple variables and preferences, anyone would do well with Incredible, EVO or Droid X!

Personally I could care less which phone people think is subjectively better than another.

That said, one thing I notice about the X...is it my imagination or is that an awful lot of glass with substantially less usable area by comparison???

Until I saw this picture, I THOUGHT all that glass was usable screen space till I saw the Verizon logo above the Home and Back buttons. And someone can correct me if I am wrong (which happens all the time), but it appears that the Incredible is about the same size as just the glass on the X. If that is true, this phone is actually bigger than I originally thought.

It just seems to me, sitting side-by-side with the EVO that HTC makes much better use of space than Motorola seems to...

the actual pictures don't lie. the droid x is a wide load. :D

it's also oddly shaped with the way the camera sticks out. not sure why they didn't include a kickstand like the evo has, seems like it would be very useful for a phone that size.

Honestly if I didn't already own my Incredible and I was choosing between the DX and DI I'd go for the DX, I've got big enough hands for the increase is screen size, and I would use the HDMI regularly along with the bigger screen size.
That being said the phone doesn't offer enough for me to switch as I'm very please with my Increible. I'm waiting for a Android LTE phone forsure

Well until it's released their isn't a lot of info on it. But we do know the omap requires a lot less energy than snapdragon and the X comes with a 1530mah compared to the incredibles 1300. A tester said he was using it very heavily for 7 1/2 hours downloading on wifi and his battery was at 50%. And the X comes with some kind of battery management software. But as most of us know that battery life "mileage may vary".

Yeah but as you know our Dinc battery life is bad I mean really bad.

The Droid X will out performed the EVO and the Dinc in all the benchmarks and battery life, also the screen is not Amoled it's the same one on the Droid, it's an LCD type.

I'm in the same boat. If I were to be purchasing phones today.. I'd go with the DX.. however, the DX doesn't really offer me enough to sell my Incred to get it... especially because another Droid is just around the corner. Admittedly, the size of the Incred has grown on me as well. I'm used to carrying bigger phones in the past, but nowadays.. I do double checks to make sure I have my phone in my pocket because the Incred is so small.

Sense vs Motoblur isn't even as much of an issue anymore since Launcher Pro suits many people's needs (I still prefer Sense though)

Yeah sense is the biggest drawback I'll have going from the X to the incredible but supposedly the new version of motoblur is going to be actually nice to use. And I've recently converted to swype so its an addition having that pre installed on the X. Saves about 5 minutes lol I'm also going to miss the "worthless" optical joystick. It made text editing much easier since all my posts on here are sent from the incredible.

My only compaint of the DI is the joystick , I loved the trackball on my Eris and thought the joystick would be similar , it's sooo SLOW, I use PhonemyPC alot and it worked so much better with the track ball then the joystick. And there is no way to change the speed or sensitivity of the joystick (that i know of atleast)

I wonder if the X has the lame, microsd-behind-the-battery, like Droid, Droid 2, Desire and EVO? I HATE that design decision. One of reasons I got the Inc.

BTW, ChiTownJim, stop bragging about your big hands! ;)

I wish the Droid Incredible didnt have the trackpad on it. And the home buttons were at the bottom and the screen could be strecthed out to 4". Would be perfect IMHO

What I don't like about both phones is how tall they are. when you turn it in landscape mode, it can be very difficult to reach the space bar on every virtual keyboard with the thumb of your right hand.

What I'd like to see is a shorter phone where less space is wasted on non-screen areas.
