LG Dare. Wasn't a bad feature phone by any means, but there was a lack of support from Verizon and they really limited what LG was able to do w/ it.

VZW LG Dare.

Not everything in one package but I have my lap top with me most days and it filled in the gap that the dare just could not cover or could not cover fast enough.

I am waiting to get a droid and still using the Dare and yes it is hard to wait. Why wait? I feel that the droid should have been offered in a slide and non slide version and the issues the phone has,it should not have been let out of the lab yet..but it is all about money money money to cover the R&D to this point I imagine.

Motorola Q -> Samsung Saga -> Droid (should be delivered today). I liked the Q because it was my first smartphone but it had serious hardware problems; went through 4 or 5 of them and never got one that worked consistently. Saga has been better in terms of reliability but still not 100% which is what I expect.

Samsung Saga on Verizon. It was a replacement for when they bought out my previous carrier. Not truly a terrible phone, but it was free, and you get what you pay for. :)

I've had the Palm Treo 650 and the Palm Treo 700P. Both from Verizon.
Loved them.
Love Droid more.
Sorry Palm. I couldn't wait for the Pre and not sure Palm can survive much longer.

Phil

LG Envy which I'm glad to be rid of. Looking up sports scores or movie times was a pain and somehow it would play an mp3 sometime without me even touching it. The only thing I miss is that it has a really nice keyboard with a dedicated number line.

Kyocera Koi/KX2

HOLY CRAPOLA that phone is still being used? I remember getting that thinking damn I have the coolest phone around. I did like how you could use that side pusher thing to do almost everything without actually swiveling it open.

Now for me I came from a G1 (unlocked) on AT&T, and before that a iPhone 3G, HTC Touch Pro, Nokia N95, HTC Apache, Motorola Q, LG Voyager, and the Kyocera Koi.

No kidding, the Koi was outdated when it was released. Not to mention Kyocera provided horrible support for it.

Alltel BB 8830 without a camera. So far the droid camera isn't much better.

I really miss the sound profiles on the BB and the keyboard but not the screen size or browser.

Hmm I'm guessing a Treo 650 qualifies as "other PDA on another carrier". Poll seems a little Blackberry top-heavy in the voting options. Kinda like,

Would you like:

  • Pork chops
  • BBQ Shredded Pork
  • Ribs
  • Roast Pork
  • Chicken or something else.

Yeah, I probably should have added 1 or 2 more choices and broken it down even better. I was just trying to keep it from being overly complicated, but given the demographic on this site, probably not a valid concern. I would have liked a two part poll to indicate which carrier the switchers were coming from. I'm as curious about that as from which device. Sadly there is a max of 10 poll choices.

That would have worked for me though because I always get shredded pork or ribs when I go for BBQ.

Samsung Saga with Windows Mobile 6.1

Windows mobile phones before that as well. Couldn't be happier with my switch to Android.

I had the original Samsumg Alias (when it was the u740) in Ghetto Gold for 27 months... still love that phone, and it's the best non-smartphone, but I'm doing too much traveling to not have internet!

OMore megapixels does not make a better phone. In test iphone 3gs has been proven to take higher quality pictures, reload faster, and takes pictures faster than the Droid right now. I was using a Hero, wanting 3g and a faster phone, and the droid is brillant simply put.

Treo 700p. It was a great phone for its time, except for the headphone jack issue (went through 3 of 'em because of that little problem)....was waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone, but checked out the Droid and fell in lust. :D
