VZW Employee available for questions!!

Screen issue hasent been deemed a problem yet. I think it takes a certain % of stock or how many sold vs how many have been reported issue for it to be a bulletin. In my store ive only heard of 1 case with this!

This is crazy but can totally believe it, when I was talking to a Verizon tech rep, they said it wasn't a known problem, I told her to come to this forum, and others... she did saw how many people was having problems and said she should report it.

I think that a ground issue/flaw is quite a big problem, not just because you can't use the phone on certain surfaces, but the phone is grounding on your person.

Some people, myself included have even noticed tingling sensations from holding the phone to much whilst charging. (not my phone but friends) and others reported this to.

Not really sure where you came up with this...EVERY major phone forum has reps from providers.

It's an encouraged practice.

Hmmm...interesting!

It seems pretty unlikely (to me at least) that a carrier would allow/condone their people to come to a "3rd party" forum and willingly post information fairly openly when they won't answer most of these questions over the phone.

"Ah yes forgot about that. Yes it does void warranty, however, most technicians in the store are not, hmm how can I word it..."trained?" in knowing root vs a simple launcher app. And if your phone is bricked, how are they gonna know? =)

I myself ,when i had my moto droid, rooted/modded the heck out of it. Then i fru'ed it out, and noone was the wiser."

Even on a VZW, AT&T, Sprint or T-Mo forum I cannot see the carrier approving of this!

Just my .02!!

In the call center here, at least, when you signed up for the job, there was an agreement to not divulge any information (even public info, as you stated) outside normal working operations, which obviously does not include going on a forum in your off-hours without prior permission.

I think you are helping verizon...instead of them getting 300 phone calls asking about this and that, you are answering one question and telling over 300 people what is on a lot of our minds. So thank you!!!

As title states, im a verizon wireless employee in the northeast area, and I can answer any questions you guys may have about the Incredible, or any droid or phone in general. YOu can shoot me a PM or ask here and ill get back to you as soon as I can.

Ok, ok, so those last 2 were things that I hope are in the works haha, a droid/i-phone hybrid, or a Droid operating system, integrated with BIS??? How sick..ultimate phone.

i am a verizon wireless emplyee as well, and would be glad to answer any questions :D

figured I'd chime in here for a moment, too...

#1- I can say that a carrier/company will not usually condone going on to a 3rd party forum and openly saying "I am an employee. Ask me what you will." The reason is that when you do so, you and the company can be held legally liable for any information- right, wrong, or otherwise. On their own forums, it can be moderated and usually standardized responses are given for questions.

#2- Why would you say "yes rooting voids your warranty, but if it's bricked how are they going to know?" On top of that, you blatantly said that you rooted your phone, then FRU'd it, and nobody knew. Not sure about legality there, but that's definitely a breach of code of conduct.

#3- Because of rooting, technicians should be .. um .. "trained" to look at the kernel version and not just what the phone display input is.

#4- spell check. use it. not a big thing. but I've found that if you want to be taken seriously, then everyday words like "immediate" should not be spelled "imidiate". and that's just the main one that stuck with me.

I see what you are saying, but from a non-Verizon employee, I can vouch that what he says has some truth, my Omnia had an "issue", and was flashed to a 6.5 rom. I desperately tried to flash it to the latest release back when they unlocked GPS etc. but it wasn't taking. So finally sent it in with fingers crossed, and sure enough, got it back 2 weeks later good as new, albeit with the official rom flashed to it.

1. If i work for an employer that gets a discount on my service but i'm on a family plan where i'm not the head line, am I still able to get a discount?

2. if not, then what can I do to get it, get to VZW and change it so that I'm the head line?

you have to be the account holder, meaning it has to be your social on the account. If it is, then go to vzw.com/discounts. if it's not, then you'll have to do an assumption of liability to get the account in your name/social.

not sure what you mean you "sent it in" since VZW doesnt repair phones. the manufacturer might, but that is THEIR practice and not VZW's. They may make exceptions for warranty claims, but VZW only handles defects and malfunctions... not "I screwed up my phone doing something I shouldn't have".

Is there a "red flag" for people who use a lot of data. How unlimited is the "unlimited" data package? If I tether moderately is big red going to bust my chops?

Is that easy to do? and is anything going to change about our plan at all?

Berry2Droid appears to be doing this of his own free will BUT there are "sanctioned" reps from carriers as well as manufacturers who answer questions on 3rd party boards on a regular basis.

"Ask me what you will..." is pretty open-ended and you won't see any of the above mentioned reps saying anything of that nature. They will however announce themselves and answer whatever they can/are allowed to.

Cridikal, again, on their own forums, yes, they do this. That would be Forums.Verizon.com, NOT androidforums.com. I doubt we would see a sanctioned, Verizon employee here. And if we ever did, they would just give us the same copy/paste answers that we'd get on the verizon forum or if we were to call and ask.

haha you guys are trying hard to scare him away! I think he understand the risks at this point. I appreciate his efforts and he seems quite honest for a sales person. Maybe too honest... ;)

Thank you sir. lol yes i just wanted to give ppl a few pointers, tips ect and it turned into a battle i guess

Im pretty sure, and this is just speculation, but there is a "soft" 5gb cap on our "unlimited" plans. Ive heard stories of people getting nasty letters for using tethering apps and going over 5gb, but legally i dont think we can bill you for something we call "unlimited".

And to whomever was poking at me for spelling errors...this is a forum. Me spelling things incorrectly because im typing fast...grow up..you should see when i comment accounts, we dont spell full words out..

Slightly different thing, but I'm a forum host at dslreports.com and we do have sanctioned support from some ISPs.

Yeah I use a lot of bandwidth per month, always have since I started with Verizon, I use my phone to remote in and out of computers all over the world, and also upload and download websites via phone itself and native tethering, also stream movies and such when out and about and bored.

Ive been with Big Red for around 2-3 years now, and most of my monthly bills show this or more... never had a problem as of yet, if they go to tiered plans on 3g as well of as 4g, i'm going to cry, limited 4g can understand but i use my 3g all the time :(

I'm probably just a lucky one, but to me if you advertise something as unlimited like it clearly shows, then you screwed up in the 1st place lol

Ah im not familiar with the OS's nicknamed.

Probably slim to none. Someone posted something in a different thread that we were making some sort of announcement this Wednesday..I doubt it will be within 30days of your incredible tho./QUOTE]

Thanks I figured as much. Not sure I will even like the Droid X but do want to see it when it comes out. If its sturdier then I just may go for it. Thanks.

Holy cow contagous! lol.. Fortunately I don't think they can force us to switch plans, so just get everything how you want it now, and we should be grandfathered in to the unlimited plan.

I honestly don't think anyone is trying to scare him away. It is just that we all have been burned by false bravado, phony information and out right lies to simply take what someone says at face value.

It is the unfortunate nature of the forums and although not necessarily applicable here, the term "pics or it didn't happen" came from somewhere.

I myself would not word my skepticism like some, but you can't blame people for questioning this.

The bottom line is if he is here and is posting and the information is real and reliable then great, but the grain of sand principle applies. ;)
