HTC Incredible VS. Droid X

I think you are torturing yourself unnecessarily...

You will not get an argument from me of whether or not the Incredible is better, but think about what is better or acceptable to you!

If you are this on the fence about it, what are you gonna do when the phone after the DX arrives? And the phone after that and the phone after that...

Processor (MAYBE "better"), bogus 720p recording and a 16 gig SD card? Really?!?! is that enough to make you switch?

Again, this is no quantum leap like it was from the Eris to the Inc.!!!

I would actually like to know how much better the reception is. My Incredible hardly ever gets over 2 bars and spends a lot of time at the 1 bar/1x range. My Moto Droid always had a decent signal, no matter where I was. This thing is supposed to have dedicated antennae, and the original Droid held a signal very well.

The 3 microphones are also cool. I don't know that I've ever had a conversation where a noise cancelling microphone would have come into play, but it couldn't hurt. The outward microphone for the video recording seems like something someone should have thought of a long time ago.

My Incredible is the best phone I've ever owned and I'm pretty happy with it, but the battery life and signal leave something to be desired. If I thought that the X could solve those 2 issues, I'd be all over it. I also suspect that we won't see a Froyo update for the Incredible for a long time, not only because of SenseUI, but because Verizon seems to be phasing that phone out already. The X is getting the royal treatment and they already have a promised Froyo/Flash update coming. It may be a vague "end of summer" release, but that's more than we have for the Incredible.

I tried the EVO, and returned it. Too big for me, and the LCD screen was not nearly as vibrant as my Incredible's. The EVO was also notably slower than the Inc. I just wish that the Inc's screen was about .25" wider.

The Droid X should get much better reception and quality than the Incredible because of the diversity antennae. If one antennae starts to have too much noise, it switches over to a different antennae. In theory, it should work out to be better.

In the end, it's all BS and hearsay.

Until Droid X actually releases and people ACTUALLY get them in their hands there's no way of knowing what is better in the real world. And then there's personal opinions, applications of usage and so on...

They can claim great battery life all they want, but how much will it REALLY be. Will it be THAT much greater than the Incredible??? Statistics can say just about anything you want, so to me it's all just a big illusion. Until I can touch/experience it, it doesn't exist.

Well, just a couple of comments:

1. I have no idea what all the reception problems are with the Incredible! I am sitting here at my desk with a nice solid -58dBm...
(This is significant because my work phone (BBerry Bold) can barely manage -98dBm)

2. Froyo has already been confirmed for all Android devices released this year. Most likely in Q3.

3. People have been warned over and over not to continue to perpetuate the "proven wrong rumor" that the Incredible is being phased out!

That said, the DX looks like a really nice device, but not nearly anything earth shattering to me! Besides, if the rumored HTC Scorpion ever turns into reality, I would rather upgrade to that next year!! ;)

Edit: Greyhulk, I should say that I do not doubt people are having reception problems, but that I am not experiencing any at all. I know reception is a tricky topic as it can change by walking 5 feet in any direction.

HI I just wanted to see what ya'all thought. I bought the Incredible but it won't be here until 7/21 and now I hear the Droid X will be released around the same time, so I would love to hear what everyone has to say.

If you had the choice like I do, would you get the incredible or the Droid X and why? Thanks, shellster

That's what I'd do. But there are honestly enough threads about switching. Why take into account what everyone else says when you have the ability to use it yourself and see what you like.

It depends on what you're looking for. Both are great devices. I think it'll really depend on what screen size you want. I'm switching from the Incredible to the Droid X for several reasons. If you want to advantages of the Droid X over Droid Incredible, let me know and I can make a list.

That would be great Vihzel, thank you I appeciate your help

No problem. Now here are just a short list of features that the X has over the Incredible:

1. 720p HD video recording at 24FPS w/ scene modes (including super slow motion and fast motion capture) and LED spotlight
2. 4.3" 854 x 480 screen (if you want more screen real estate)
3. Noise cancellation mic
4. 8MP camera w/ image stabilization, red eye correct, panorama mode, AND 1/1000 mechanical shutter
5. 4 physical hardware buttons (some people prefer physical buttons while others don't)
6. HDMI out for displaying on HDTVs
7. Faster OMAP 1Ghz processor
8. Better battery life
9. Mobile hotspot capable
10. Better battery life management

Wow that was really rude

Shellster, to be completely honest there are a couple of threads on this already. As you can see, people can get passionate about their phones and this is the Incredible section after all. Not saying its right or nice or polite, but if you go into any forum and start threads about why you should get something else, especially when there are already threads on it is not going to be received well.

Yes you are asking for comparisons but most won't perceive it that way.

Good luck to you!!:D

im still not sold on the battery life issue.....just bought a 1500 mAh for my dinc (OEM TP2 battery) for $15 so we will see how much that improves battery life.
I've only had my dinc for 5 days so and i'm getting decent batt life but i've been using Navigation for a bulk of the day so it's hard to say what my batt life is for normal use.

But lets remember that the battery on the X is 1550 (?) mAh which is only 250 mAh or 19% larger. And when you consider that that screen on the X is 4.3 inches compared to 3.7 inches or 16% larger. So if you assume that they processors and power usage are comparable then the battery life should be close in these 2 devices.

I am by no means claiming to know anything about either of these processors, anything of substance anyway.

And again, we really won't know until some of these things are put through their paces......my .02

You're correct. That WAS rude. I don't care how many other threads there are on a topic. No one needs to be a A-S to other people. Just simply suggest, "hey guy, there are many threads on this already. Did you check them out?" It takes just about the same type to type out the positive response as it does the negative.

I would recommend that you hop over to the Droid X forum for a lot more detail and to ask your questions there. I can talk a lot more about the extra features, like on the camera and HD capture, diversity antennae, and revised version of Motoblur.

Thanks Vihzel, I'm new to this forum and didn't realize there was another section for droid x. I've been on forums before and all the people were really nice, I was caught off guard by how rude some people can be.

So, I am just over a week into my 30days with my Droid Incredible. Going in I knew about the Droid X coming out, but didnt care much and went with the Incredible. But now since theres an actual release date I was wondering even more if I should maybe return the Incredible for the X.

I dont use video to much with my smart phones but I might use it more if it were 720p with HDMI.!? I also dont know if I love the big 4.3 display or hate it. Add a case to the X and it will become even more ridiculous.

I just dont know, I am kinda torn...

either way you will have a good phone, the 4.3 inch display is huge, it makes it a 2 handed phone. spec wise it has the 1ghz proc, 8gb internal and 16gb card and 8mp camera and capable of 720p, and has mifi and tether capability. just depends what you are wanting to use the phone for. and the battery is something like a 1570mah battery. it will be a nice BIG phone, bt im happy with my DINC.

Go into a Sprint store and look at the EVO. If the screen size is good enough for you, then switch to Droid X. If the EVO is just way too big for you, then stay with the Incredible.
