Droid X looks pretty sweet, but ...

NETWORK : X
SCREEN: X

CAMERA: DRAW
CPU : X
RAM: DRAW
FFC: EVO
WIFITETHER: X
LIMITED 4G: EVO

all i see here, is a transparent bunch of butthurt evo fanboys trying to justify the value of their purchase.
ill leave you with a little thought: verizon s#its on sprint. and omap s#its on snapdragon.

Actually the camera is up for debate still. We haven't really seen any good set of photos taken from the X in different conditions yet to compare to the EVO. A huge benefit though that the X has is the image stabilization.

AND it has a mechanical shutter to catch fast moving objects which is also another reason for the hump on the back.

I think X takes the camera category, it's looking to be quite stellar. Check these samples:
Testing the Droid X Camera [PICS & VIDS]

Also RAM might be similar but that integrated 8GB and included 16GB card is a winner for the X too.

yes you and aj are right. i wrote my statement yesterday about the camera. Your link Today, along with the other review concerning the quality of the X's pix, states that it is in fact the better camera. from the look of those pictures and what i have seen of the evo, i cant argue.

I was under the impression that the x and evo both had 8 internal and a 16 gig card stock. damn, evo just got slaughtered

X had this by a landslide before, now it is just not fair for the evo.

Thus far pictures and video from the X is superior.

After looking at the pix and vid via the link, I would agree.

My comment regarding the EVO vs the X..... Both phones are strikingly similar. Each has a few features that the other doesn't have, so all in all I would say neither one is "head & shoulders" above the other. It all boils down to which is your personal preference.

Good luck to everyone, whatever you decide to do,

This thread is posted here because the $10/month fee and the $30 per month hotspot fee are relevant only the EVO 4G. Until Sprint rolls out 4G at speeds that at least match other networks' 3G speeds, I think it's a bit odd for Sprint to be charging so much for tethering and the hotspot feature compared to its primary CDMA competitor.

The sprint hotspot doesn't have a 2GB cap. I can't believe so many people are actually suckered by the 'cheaper' $20 plan..

Great.. now I can get on with my devices that can REALLY use data, and blast past a cap and pay overages.

why do ppl keep quoting 4G? it's currently not up and running in enough cities to make it complete 4G coverage and that's coming from my uncle who works in the uppers of Sprint near the top. Its minimal at best, at least from my understanding.

Move out your shitty area!!!
J/K I realize that not all major cities are covered.
BTW I live in a city with a very good 4g coverage, haha.
Anyway, stop comparing Verizon plan with Sprint plans. I know my Verizon plan is more expensive, but I am paying a premium for the coverage and service.

Hey I'll be the first to say not every company has what everyone wants. And sometimes AT&T is what a person wants and that's fine for them. For me, Verizon is the major company in this area and all other companies pretty much suck around here. Now, if you get great 4G coverage that seriously is awesome for you! I do know that Verizon is rolling out 4G for testing at the end of this year. But as it stands EVO users can't quote 4G as if it covers all cities or even a lot of cities cause at this time it doesn't. But I'm really glad it works for you.

It works in MY AREA.
But I travel quite a bit with my job and I suspect that switch to sprint is not advised for that.

Well AT&T caps their data period. You no longer have the option of unlimited if you join AT&T unless you were grandfathered into it and make no changes to your contract at all.

That's kind of biased. I see it as:

NETWORK/3G/4G: Depends Where You Live (Even without 4G, Sprint may just have better coverage in your home town).
SCREEN: X
PRICE: X
CAMERA: EVO (The EVO's camera is nice, and it has a front facing one. Granted, the X's is nicer, but if you're so serious about picture quality that the EVO isn't good enough for you, you probably want a dedicated camera anyway).
CPU/RAM: ??? (Sure, the X is better on paper, but reviews say it's a bit sluggish, probably because of the Moto widgets. Who cares if it's fater on paper, real world performance matters. Root the EVO and put some custom ROMs on there, and it's snappy, by all accounts).
TETHER: EVO (Because you rooted for EVO for free unlimited tethering, right?)

Rooting is a big deal. The fact that we won't be able to on the X is something to consider.

How is pricing better on the X? Are you talking about network or the phone itself? If network then that is debatable because specific users need certain things, and for the phone I think the EVO will be cheaper without contract and same with contract.

I think most people are quoting what they are getting, not what ALL EVO users would get, that would be impossible. After all each person can really only speak for themselves, or maybe their area as far as data speeds/signal etc....

But one thing you are missing out on as far as your statement about verizon rolling out 4G, its irrevelent as far as the Droid X is concerned because it won't work on a LTE network, so say verizon rolls out LTE early next year, you will be right back to buying a new phone just to use the network.

To be honest, I know there are alot of kids on this forum who get caught up with specs, blah blah blah. Many people who quote benchmarks don't even know what they are measuring or can tell the difference anyway. IMO since I own an EVO and my neighbor owns the X, I can tell you there are virtually no differences in the phones as far as usage. There is no 3-5 second difference in opening apps, internet, swiping from screens or anything like that. My Evo was faster doing some things, his was faster doing others. There is not a detectable difference in camera quality or video. My EVO took better day time pics, his takes better pics in low light. Video honestly looks the same. The only edge I can say I did see was when he loaded a game, it was a slightly different experiance but me personally when I want to play games, I have an xbox360 and a 60 inch flatscreen, a 4.3inch screen pales in comparison. It comes down to what carrier you have and who has the best service, all this other BS is so minute that it isn't even worth the debate. Just my few cents though....

How'd he get an X?

I just got the EVO (planning to return it within 30 days) and my neighbor got the X and I must say that you are incorrect.

Also... the video thing has been beaten to death.

people are forgetting the specs/features of the phones, though. the new Droid X won't have a front facing camera, let alone 4G capabilities.

sorry, but this phone, imo, doesn't beat the Evo. a comparable phone will come out once another network has rolled out 4G, and has the same specs and some versus the Evo. the Evo isn't gonna be beat for about a year if you ask me.

on top of that, and i've said this before, i freaking hate those hardware buttons on the Droid X.

Verizon Is supposed To have 4g phones By this holiday season launching on lte which is true 4g over twice as fast as wiimax and as far as specs go the evo has already been beat the incredible its cousin has higher benchmarks and the cpu in the x is much faster.along with a gpu that is over twice as capable as the one in the snap dragon.

Again, how'd they get their X's? Paying $$$$$$$ on eBay?
