The (Official?) “I’m Married” Thread

I had ordered 50 red & white roses for the Darling Bride, to be delivered yesterday. That would give me time to get them arranged in the vase for today. The vendor generated a shipping label Tuesday... but FedEx says they never received the item for shipment! I'm a little bent out of shape over that... so I'm on the phone getting a refund. Ah well, at least she has enough chocolate-covered strawberries to keep her happy...

My wife and I became an item on Valentines day. With that double significance, roses were always the thing to commemorate the occasion. Up until we became family with a kitty born in my shed. Our cat dictator would not stay out of the vase of roses.

Fifty two years ago my wife made the mistake of becoming my Valentine sweetheart.

52 years?! Child bride alert! 😊

It took me a long time to understand and value the chemistry shared between the Darling Bride and me. Building a martial relationship requires constant effort: it's high maintenance. The benefits of a healthy, happy marriage, however, are more than worth the effort invested.

The irony of our relationship is that my wife says communication is key (and I agree with her). Regrettably, most of our fights about that stem from the fact that she tries to communicate in what I think of as “low quality” ways, such as upstairs and through a door, or from three rooms away, or when I’m sitting near the TV and she has the volume cranked up so she can hear it from the kitchen…and in every one of these cases she is angered and frustrated that I can’t hear her. My protestations fall on deaf ears, because my failure to hear and understand her are just an indication that I don’t actually love her.
There is very little about marriage that is easy.
