Reviews Vivo X Fold3 Pro Global... WOW!

blooomin' 'eck you return after years and discover "rusty bum" is now rocking some Chinese "bendy" phone, the forum's changed and everyone is now old. Samsung S23 Ultra here (upgrade soon) worse it is unsullied by Odin (if indeed they still use that) and its good to use but not as exciting as...

I've had my S6 three days now...

And basically I love it, even TW is acceptable (but I still use Nova prime) one or two minor niggles. 1) photos I take in landscape orientation won't show in landscape in the gallery, they stay as a (right way up) portrait view. Obviously I'm holding the phone in landscape view. So far all...

    S6 Wireless charging and Cases

I am awaiting my S6 128 Gig (still) and despite it's beauty I will need a case for work use. However I still want to use wireless charging. First is it possible to wireless charge through a case and if so can anyone recommend one that offers decent protection. Thanks in advance.

    Lollipop is officially here!

At last Lollipop has started to roll out for the international Qualcomm Note 3 - the SM-N9005. Keep checking OTA and Kies. It can be downloaded for some European carriers from SamMobile here : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N9005/

An official leak of Lollipop (V5.0) for SM-N9005 Note 3

The official version has been leaked, and willl not trip Knox if you flash it. Personally I won't just yet, there is a lot to be said from being just behind the cutting edge. It may be still buggy. Anyway, just so you know...

How to backup a ROM for use on another phone?

You can, but it is risky. You'd need a Nandroid of the bricked phone, obviously made before it was bricked. An exact 2nd model of the phone that was bricked, rooted with the exact same custom recovery. Stick the Nandroid in the custom recovery's backup folder and restore. It is risky...

    Removing or deleting quick settings

Not had a proper read of this, but it might be what your looking for. You need to be rooted and have xposed installer I would imagine it should work on the S4 mini : [url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698143][MOD][Xposed] Remove quick settings from not

Can my carrier hijack my phone number?

I think the answer may be that the number is "owned" by AT&T to work with their network. Without you paying an ETF in your contact they will not release the PAC code to allow the use of the number on a different network.

Is Cleanmaster a joke? And where does all the ram go? Note 4

There is a truism I have found to be self evident for Android: "Unused RAM is wasted RAM". RAM is handled much differently in Android as, say Windows. This article explains it well : RAM: What it is, how it's used, and why you shouldn't care | Android Central

    Removing or deleting quick settings

You can only set a minimum (5), you can't have none without rooting. Go to settings>device>notification panel. Incidentally swiping down with two separated fingers displays them all. I understand you don't like or want them, I'm just curious why? I find them most useful.

    RE: Android L and crap/bloatware

Some, but by no means all of my carriers "bloatware" had the option to install or not, although the way our networks implement and control bloatware and firmwares is already very different to the USA. This doesn't stop me being the optimist and hoping all of it can be an option.

How do you close an app properly?

To be fair to funky, he said "... trust the Android system. :D Back to topic. Don't even bother to close them from task manager (on Samsung's a long press if the home key), I used to religiously, but it actually slows the phone, noticeably slows it on reopening an app. Let the phone...

How to know what apps are downloaded by me and what apps are default apps?

Only from the app drawer, not a home screen. Indeed long pressing a system app like camera in the app drawer just gives three options on the top "Create folder", "App info" and "cancel". "Cancel" is there because if you just release the dragged system app it puts a shortcut for it on the...

How to know what apps are downloaded by me and what apps are default apps?

Your screen shot shows a home screen, dragging any app from there to the trash can (I'm English and call it "the dustbin") just removes the apps shortcut on your home screen, it doesn't uninstall them. As said, unless your rooted you cannot uninstall a system application.

How to view the website like exactly displayed on a desktop PC browser?

Indeed, however Chrome's "Request desktop site" option often "forgets" or some sites (Yahoo! as mentioned being a prime example) seem to "overrule" it. I'm waiting for Google to fix that in a later version of Chrome.

New S5 Active User is Leary about Privacy Questions

Yes, be more comfortable in the fact that apps actually "ask" for your permission rather than more comfortable that they don't. A sure case of "ignorance is bliss." and an example of the difference between iOS and Android. One giving you the choice and the other assuming, at the best, you...

Finally played with a Moto X- extremely disappointed.

I think to get everything you want in a phone you are limited to a Samsung. I suggest a couple of hours in a store "playing" with various models. Usually the staff are most accommodating, particularly if they smell a sale :) . Explain your needs and wants from a phone. I believe that two...

Can my carrier hijack my phone number?

I know in the UK under European law we cannot port a number until either our contract term is up or we pay an ETF. Is this not the case too in the US?

Root [International] Failed restore with Philz, no idea how or why.

Yes, yes, I know I own a Note 3, but I want some input (no point on my device's rooting forum :( ). After running rooted stock for seemingly ever I ventured into XDA found a kernel I could tweak to death (Ultimate v63) Did a Nandroid, and flashed away. Didn't like it, it wasn't stable...

No SIM card (phone still shows bars)

I'm just going on how it is with some devices in the UK. If my SIM is removed from my Note 3 I get a small icon of an SIM card with an "x" in it and can still make our emergency 999 calls (or 112), I have known some devices display full bars with no 'G', 'H' '3G', '4G' or 'E' symbol...

No SIM card (phone still shows bars)

I beleive it is a legal requirement for all cell providers to allow any device the ability to call the emergency services on any of their networks, SIM card or no SIM card. It certainly is this case in the UK. Try making a regular call (don't dial 911 to prove my point, you could get into...
