Root ........1 Click Root Optimus m (Gingerbreak)..............

Just for future reference, people can use ThinkFree Office which comes with the phone to browse contents of the SD card and also run APKs. Whether you email the file to yourself or just transfer it via USB, you have all the necessary tools out of the box :).

Here is a thread that will help you out. It directs you to use Root Explorer which will cost around $4. An alternate is File Expert which will do the same and is free. After starting File Expert press the menu button, then press More. It should have a Mount option, press that and choose Mount as read Write. If the option to mount is not there then choose Settings/File Explorer Settings/ scroll down and click Root Explorer.
Now go back and see if the Mount option is there.

root explorer is free. i never paid a cent for it

Thank you so much for this. I have been waiting for an easy 1-click root app for android 2.2.1 running on LG Optimus M because i was afraid to root my phone the "hard way". This made it so much easier for me plus the videos and instructions. Note: before i rooted my phone i took out my sd card and used an old one that i formatted and when i rooted my phone none of my apps deleted, kinda got upset because i switched my sd card for nothing lol but oh well gotta be on the safe side i guess. I also downloaded root explorer to delete some of the bloatware. Kept having trouble with Boingo-wifi so i rebooted my phone and the problem ended.
Again, thank you for this app:)

I hate to be a party pooper, but this isn't working for me. I installed it, then ran it, and after a few minutes it told me it didn't know what happened, but something went wrong and I should reboot to see if it rooted properly. I rebooted, it didn't work. I backed up my SD card and reformatted it, then put it in and tried it again. Same error message. Rebooted, same problem. Help please?

I'm on an Optimus M on 2.2.1, GingerBreak 1.2 was installed on my phone's internal drive, and USB debugging is on.

Ofcourse I did everything backwards :D yayay!

1. Preloaded 2.2.1
2. Left the 1.2 ver on the SD card since moving I couldn't find a prog that would allow me to move it to the phone while on the phone (any suggestion?)
3. never reformatted the SD card (obviously if it's running the apk and not on the phone :D)
4. It's my GF's and she doesn't care as much as I do, but wants the stupid "boingo thing" to go away

I used app (I forgot) to install it from the SD card and used terminal to verify root was successful and got the # when I checked... only Titanium backup would allow me to remove apps. :/ not terrible but hmm... tried three different kinds of uninstallers (superbox, and uninstaller-cant-remember)

When I tried to uninstall boingo from titanium it said it would reboot twice? to remove.. so I did and when it came back it wiped the phone clean and went back to default settings, boingo was still there. Attempted to remove again and this time it dissapeared. Removed that stupid games free thing but this time no craziness.

It's still rooted and I haven't checked her SD card for anything gone whacky.

Any insight on what happened and if I should be concerned about hearing her complain there's something wrong? lol

You guys/girls know what I'm talking about
