Root 1-click root yet?

EKG

Android Enthusiast
Is there a simple way to root yet, such as the 1-Click method they had for the Droid X? I have a Mac so the rooting process is slightly more difficult and am trying to be patient and waiting for an easy, smooth way to do this.

And don't drink alcohol while you root your phone. This is very important..

I must be special because I was drinking jack and cokes and listening to a complaining wife when I did the manual method. Mind you it was my first time rooting as well as my first android phone. I am a little technologically advanced though.

Isn't drinking when listening to your wife complain mandatory?.

:p

Just take your time and make sure the wife, is not around
To yap your ear off.

Or to slap you when you start cussing because you bricked.
(I hope you don't brick but there are some steps, if they fail will brick you)

Generally if you follow the guide and do not deviate by skipping the md5 checks you will be okay.

On xda there is a step by step for Mac.

Its really not that complicated, just take your time and keep the directions up every step of the way. Double check everything and you'll be fine.

I was holding off for a simple one click solution, but finally bit the bullet this afternoon. I used Fryetech's Windows solution, but here is his Mac video:

YouTube - Easy root HTC Thunderbolt on Mac OSX

I followed step by step for Windows and it was a breeze.

Woke up at 6 AM and couldn't fall back to sleep...so I am going to try this now because I just don't have anything better to do hahaha. Thanks for the video man!

A guy on Android central just came out with "auto root". Like to be a 1 step root. Just noticed it a few minutes ago.

Really? Ah man...I would be so happy if I wasn't in the middle of rooting it right now lol

Oh wow. Have you tried this? My temptation to root has grown incredibly since I switched from Sense to Go Launcher EX and I'm really excited to flash some ROMs :D

Not yet ... essentially it's a scripted version of the manual method. Haven't seen it run but if you get into trouble your better off having some basic adb knowledge handy... otherwise you'll be one of those people screaming for help on the forum with an unusable phone.

It is as easy as plug in phone, make sure debugging is set... Press any key.....so as long as you can find the "any key" you will be good to go ;)

Alright thanks man. I have experience with rooting and flashing, but like most users am more hesitant after dropping $500 for my tbolt lol

I should be getting it tomorrow, so I'll check back in tomorrow night.

OH NO! - not the any key again.................... I can never find that one!
Seriously, should we wait for the "update" that's supposed to be coming soon from HTC?
Also, am having trouble with the megaupload download links. It keeps saying that I've exceeded my download limit? Is there another link anywhere?

--EDIT-- got both the root and unroot files finally.
