1) sbf'd to 340 last night in order to accept the ota. There wasn't one there for me, so..
2) I rooted and flashed the patched update.zip to get back to 596
3) I have a problem where when I click on a name in the address book, it force closes. It seems to only happen as I have following two conditions and I don't know which one's causing it.

a) When I am deodexed
b) When I advance restore data from a previous nandroid.

Do I need this to work? Not really. Would it be nice? Kinda. I don't really care. If you wanna chime in, feel free.

NOTE: When I first flashed the patched update.zip. The address book worked fine with the dialer.

hmmm.....why didn't you just do the 2 part install from .340? or was you purposely curious and wanting to try the update.zip?

Steven, why don't you just SBF back to Froyo and go the long way back up to 596? I'm assuming you did a data wipre/factory reset before you went in and put all your stuff back in?

You had to, you're the great and powerful...ummm.....oz.....lol.

I did. I did. I was already on 596 from the leaked flash, but since I sbf'd I upgraded the other way. So, I've tried everything out.

You could try a force stop and clear data on your contacts. Might work the glitch out. You will just have to restore you contacts from google server.

Do you have any apps frozen. I had the same problem once and this was my case. Can't remember which one was messing me up though. May have been Yahoo.

Hi Steven, nice robe. :D

I bet you froze some bloatware, like yahoo authenticator or something similar. :D

Crap, thanks a lot Steven. After reading your post I tried to add a new contact and I get a force close. I deleted the Yahoo apks so now what?

this is why you should either

A. freeze with Titanium Backuo
B. rename the .apk to .bak

hopefully someone can get you a copy of the .apk to reinstall...

You know, I didn't think about that Metfanant. I never use Yahoo messenger or the like. But thinking about it now, yeah. That could do it as it does link your email contacts with your phone contacts.

I for one always opt to freeze my bloat. It just makes things easier.

yes, the yahoo.apk is tied to the contacts and will, without fail (so to speak) FC your contacts if frozen or deleted

its not a "could" its a "will." I promise...you freeze it...your contacts will FC...

uhh, masterful yoda... wait, wrong level... um dear force, please let yoda, I mean Steven figure out his lightsaber, I mean Droidx without having to travel far and wide and start clone wars and stuff.
Wow, I suck at this...

It is such a rare occasion Steven needs help or advice, it kind became a playground in here. Sorry, Steven, we'll get back on topic now.

So, unclear point. Was your nandroid from .596 or .595?

This isn't the nandroid you're looking for...move along

stop it, he's gonna get mad.

One of the yahoo apk's causes an FC in contacts if you freeze it...could be the problem...

Steven? Mad at someone? No way. he's prolly chewing on the corners of his phone.....lol

Mad? NO! I'm on vacation (staycation this time) so I've been offline. But I want to thank you all, the frozen apps was the problem. Thank you all very much! :)

Off topic is very appropriate in my help thread, considering how bad I am with that. :)

Thanks everyone!
