Hey folks.

So, when the rooted stock ROM for the update comes out, will I need to wipe everything to flash it, or can I just wipe my caches?

It's just a pain to re set everything up like I like. And I'm lazy.

Mostly lazy.

i always do a full wipe before i flash anything. i know that it is a pain sometimes, but you develop a routine and it can go pretty quick. but if it is going from stock to the latest stock rom then it might work wiping just cache and dalvik cache. i can't guarantee that it will work. just make a nandroid backup before trying it.

The Viper4G installer does its own superwipe. If you wipe before using it, it will take quite a bit longer to install. Not sure why, but that's the common report.

I always make a nandroid first. That's how Earlymon taught me. :D

I guess I'll try it and report back. . . when the new stock ROM is released, that is.

I, like EM, come from the school of, "If you're rooted, NEVER accept an OTA update," and likewise don't understand the mentality of taking an OTA update and trying to retain root. The thing I really don't understand is, why is it so important to get the OTA update the moment it's available? Stock ROMs show up within days, if not hours, of the OTA dropping. Why risk your root (which presumably you waited much longer than a few hours/days for) for what are usually minor fixes?

Off topic but.

Why would you accept the OTA. When you could use LazyPanda's S-Off and behold all of the GREAT BEAUTIFUL MAGNIFICENCE that is thee holy combination of TWRP & CM10.

That's all I wanted to say. *jumps out window*:smokingsomb:

If you are on 1.15, the only way to get the updated radios would be to take the ota or ruu, but then you get stuck with hboot 1.19 and you don't want that

Why does htc hate us? I assumed that the whole s-on/s-off thing was with all manufacturers but I found out that's just not the case. It's only an HTC thing? What gives? Then they offer the dev unlock. But then your still limited!? :banghead: k my rant is over. :)

can you describe what you see on the screen? are you rooted? if so how did you root? what is your hboot? did you accept the ota?

the more details you can give us, the better we can help you?

Not rooted.
When I hit install now the phone reboots and the Team Win Recovery Project screen pops up with the following option buttons: install, wipe, backup, restore, mount, settings, advanced, reboot.

ok you have a custom recovery. that is one part in order for you to be fully rooted. the screen where you select the recovery option that is called the bootloader. once you are in the bootloader at the top of the screen we need some info. if you can just report everything that you see there then we can help you better.
