I went to school near canada and had friends who were banned from the country for getting a speeding ticket. It's amazing what they will ban you for.

IMO it's ridiculous, who never made mistakes when they were young? I think if your young and do something stupid, sure punish the person but don't go to the extremes that they went. UNLESS they did something extremely wrong.

The speeding ticket bans are pretty stupid.. but why was this brit kid sending threatening emails? That is just stupid.. harsh maybe, but its not like he did not bring this upon himself. They can't really do much more to him as he is not a citizen it seems.

It don't seem to be threatening at all, insulting maybe. But he was drunk, they should've locked him up for a few days, slapped him with a fine, and let him walk.

It makes me wonder what they would do to a 17 year old in America if he got drunk and sent Obama an insulting email. I'm sure more than half have probably thought worse things about him than what this guy probably actually sent.

I don't think he was banned for being abusive or threatening ... I think he was banned for being drunk and stupid. We are over our quota with drunk stupid teens.

He was outside of the US tho? They cant fine and lock him up?

It's rediculous. I'll bet Obama never even saw it or knew about it until it was mainstream news. But by the context of the article, I agree with the kid.

Personally, I have no problem with our government banning foreigners that send angry emails to our President (I'm not an Obama supporter).

We've had more than 1 President be the target of an actual assassination attempt.

I agree with you, and why is he mad at Obama? What did Obama do to him?

Nope and if my mom didn't pop me, I'm sure my dad would've. I'm guessing I would've woken up in a day or so from the beating I would've got.

If you say to your mother "F**K YOU B**CH!"... are you going to hide behind free speech?

Nope, just seems silly to ban a 17 year old boy (child) sending a drunk mail to the white house. Thus my question, where is the freedom of speech? :p

I would have viewed it differently if this indeed was a terrorist claiming the same.

All the years Bush was in office, with all the hate email he got, I didn't hear of this happening.
Obama can not take criticism.

As far as his "Freedom of Speech" I don't think our American rights extend to people from other countries. Can he buy a firearm because of our right to bear arms? Of course not.

I've not seen this reported in the UK. Sounds pretty stupid to me TBH I would have thought the FBI had better things to do like reading all your emails and PM's ;)

I would love to read the e-mail that he sent, to see how bad it is.

but if he threatened him then yeah he should be banned, though my opinion of our current Pres isn't in the Highest regard i still wouldn't want another possible threat if we can help it.
