2.1 back down to 1.5 WITHOUT ROOT! (READ POST #102)

It will be interesting to compare the path to reverting a leak to 1.5 and the path to rooting (which has a return path available) as to which is the more straightforward.

Yeah, I think he's straight-up about this. The only unknown factor in his spiel might have to do with the reliability of the cousin who is claiming the code breakthrough, not the OP.
 
If and when he does post this, I would like it to go through me first and have a control group of a handful of people try it out first to test it's legitimacy.
 
Shucks, if I woulda known people would offer up some money, I woulda started trying to make it happen myself.

And the extra good news, to me, is that if this is successful, then I bet a bunch of us that are still on 1.5 would jump to the leak, then go back to 1.5 the second we hear of an OTA coming........at least that's what I'd do.

I'll get in on it, I'm not liking leak v2 anyway and if I brick it I have a couple berry's I can activate anyway so I won't be out anything.

That seems a little strange, Trident. ;)

I doubt seriously if the site here is seen as accountable for what peer-to-peer suggestions, codes or instructions might be posted.

If that is the case, you've got a lot of explaining to do for not testing the plethora of other modifications offered herein. :D
 
i concur frisco. we are free to host and instruct on leaked roms and root and anything else....i dont see why this is any different.

Well i'm guessing he'll post it in the open forum and you'd be one of the people i'd look to for its legitamcy and confirmation that it does in fact work as advertised. If for some reason it was pm'd to me, which i highly doubt would be the case, i would send it to you to verify that it does work. Upon verification i'll be more than happy to send over the funds to whatever account he wants.

I have my reasons and I'll leave it at that.
 
Since this likely involves some "hacking", I can see running it through a group of folks that wont be pm'ing moderators or flooding the boards with "I tried this and my phone melted" posts. Not sure if its feasible to do with every hack but I think the effort is worth it.
 
only reason i can think of is to be able to

1. verify it works solely for the money that has been mentioned to be legitimately worth payment.

2. get payment to the payee before it gets posted all over

i would hope it would be a clean and simple package that the cousin created that tricks the bootloader...emphasis on hope

That's one of the reasons. I have others which I don't feel would be fair to post.

You already posted your reasons, "...to test it's legitimacy."

I'm addressing the need to do that at all. Have you tested the legitimacy of any other technical offering in the forums?

In government class...this post got me excited...2.1 on my phone is fine, but if I can downgrade to 1.5 and root it...excellent!

I have quite a long list of reasons and yes, that is one of them, but certainly does not complete the list.
 
In six days this thread will self-destruct. Haha. I hope this is legit, I'm still running 1.5, but it's nice to see this might be able to turn back the clock for some people. Ok I'm gonna sit back and watch this thread blow-up now.

can we clean up this thread of the useless posts? its detracting from the ops overall intent, since it wont be till the weekend I might even suggest locking it until then because this thread will be just like the "whens 2.1ota" threads that never end before the op even gets to release it.
