2.29.405.2

I did notice that the weather widget was misbehaving and not showing any pictures for the current location, but was for other locations, and despite several reboots nothing changed. Put on charge overnight, woke up this morning and the weather widget now proudly displayed the correct weather and images etc for my current location.

if you read a number of posts above this update DIDN'T affect the weather widget...that is an issue across all HTC phones running the weather app regardless of update or even 2.1 or 2.2 etc..

Well i WAS ok - now my settings-wifi page shows 'WiFi error' and I can't enable it.
Time for another reboot :/

I've had no issues with the 2.29.405.2. Seems to me like battery life has just improved. Probably due to the new radio firmware.

The only problem I have had is that the 10MB Flash update has re-downloaded itself from the Market taking up valuable space. Is there a work around for this because everytime I uninstall the update it just downloads again.

I have a completely standard Desire.

Phew. Just run the update and everything seems OK [1] :)

[1] well the phone's working and reconnected to wi-fi. The benefit of having a vanilla, unbranded, unrooted phone I guess. Haven't tried anything specific yet.

Go to the app in the market and untick Allow Automatic Updates.

so as far as i can tell, it's probably because my phone has been 'debranded' rather than being unbranded.
so i have to use a goldcard to install the update maunally? as i already tried it with no success

i don't know if its just me or a placebo effect but it seems that the battery life has increased dramatically lol

but the one weird thing that i've experienced is that before the update, the market had updated itself to the newer version with the newer interface. but after i updated to this firmware, the market is back to the old version. any ideas why this is happening?

I can't install this as apparently I have only 19mb spare from the 25MB free space needed. All my game and apps that can be moved to the SD card are moved. How can I see or tell what I can remove or need to remove from the internal memory?

Major bummer.

OK - no guarantees, and maybe even a long shot for you - but this isn't snake oil, so give it a go:

I've often seen updates result in higher wifi sensitivity. If you're not locking on over a channel conflict with a nearby router (previously being ignored), then it'll show up in a tool called Wifi Analyzer, free in the Market.

This only helps maybe 1 in 7 people that I recommend it to - but for that one, it's a lifesaver. If it indicates you're sharing a channel with a nearby router, the problems solved by forcing your router to a known good channel.

A lot of these problems are created by router arbitration subtleties - and from time to time, they make an update that's a step forward for some with wifi while a step back for others.

So - router reset, Wifi Analyzer, remove/re-add your wifi account, battery pull kinda reset - that's your front-line arsenal in these cases.

Hope this helps, really do.

That very possible - please keep an eye and report back.

The OTA payload was simply QA'd with the previous rev of the Market, so the new one was overwritten with the old one. Probably someone decided it was easier to let the new Market update you again than to hold off on the release and repackage and re-schedule over that single app.

The Market's important to us, but to a QA manager interested in an OTA payload, it's just another line on a checklist - undo any one of them, and the whole update is impacted.

That's courtesy of my crystal ball, mind you - but I'd bet I'm pretty much right. ;)

You can add tools - but that'll increase your memory load.

You might back up your apps with Astro File Manager - free, Market - to your SD card, then delete them from your phone, do the update, then simply restore them as priority and space allows.

Once you delete them and think you've backed out quite a bit - power off, pull your battery, wait a minute, then bring the phone back up. Extreme for many cases, but it's just a procedure I use in times like yours to keep from chasing my tail.

Hope this helps.

so the new market should come back eventually right? so far, 24 hours since the update, i still don't see the new market. lol

That's my understanding, yes.

No idea why some things update faster than others.

The other possibility is that your situation is a front runner and Google's removed the new Market in favor of the old - but I kinda seriously doubt that. ;)

alot of people have just opened the market app and then just gone done something else...NOT closed it..just leave it running and it *SHOULD* update itself after a little while..

Myself I just found the APK and did it manually..

Phone seems a little more snappy and responsive after this latest update, and possibly a slight improvement in battery life (but a little early to be sure).

No adverse effects noticed yet :)

I haven't asked this and I don't for the life of me know why I haven't yet...

The "Force Apps To SD" trick that is for unrooted Desires....will it still function AFTER the update? or will I have to go through and redo it again?
