Root 2.37 Downgrade Issues

Yeah, the guide says both.

System requirements:
HTC Sync (or ADB drivers)
Desire HD with build number 1.72 or higher (higher than 2.37 cannot be downgraded yet, just wait..)
[Warning] Telus DHDs may lose sound because the 1.32.405.6 is not fully compatible with the sound chip. Just start using a custom ROM, and it will work fine.

Fair enough, I know it says "Or", but I had problems and I ended up installing both and it worked.

Do you have USB Debugging enabled?

I think if you can't copy or paste stuff into the downgrade folder it might be an issue with the PC rather than the phone though.

I know it sounds stupid but how do I get them? I mean the process and all. What does it do? Because I went to the SDK website and it was just confusing

Hi all

I just dont get i

I go through all the steps, get the serial number (cant see a reason for this)

adb shell
Put in the line (as requested)
Get the code
do it backwards to get the goldcard file
open the hex editor
open the disk
open the goldcard image file
copy over the text from 0 - 170
save it (not sure where it saves) (cant see a .bin file on the SD)
Put the SD back in the phone with PD98imp.zip in the root (in its zip format), boot into boot manager
it says no image found
then says wrong CID

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Steve

Ok. Please don't tell me there isn't any hope for me now. My phone is in limbo. Is there anyway I can restore it back to normal from the Softbank rom? PLEASE DON'T TELL ME IT'S HOPELESS.

Edit- Nevermind I RUU my phone it's back to normal. I don't know whats wrong with my pc and why I can't root it.

After i downgrade from 2.37 to 1.32, my DHD mobile network cannot connect to internet. Only WIFI can be used. Please help.

Try creating the Goldcard again, using this method. Also, some verisions of 2.37 can't be downgraded. What's your exact software number and I'll do some digging for you.

After i downgrade from 2.37 to 1.32, my DHD mobile network cannot connect to internet. Only WIFI can be used. Please help.

It will most likely have blanked your APN settings, you might need to enter them again. You can get these from your network provider.

after get the reverse CID from the gold card helper i can;t go to the page Free HTC goldcard generator | RevSkills it says Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage, dunno whats the problem

Works fine for me, might want to give it a whirl again?

Apparently some SD Cards can't be made gold cards and it's a very temperamental procedure.

Have you tried with another SD?

Your version is downgradable BTW :)

wooooooohooooooooooo thats good news thank you

I have tried a sandisk and a non branded , which suprisingly gave me 2 different results...

I have been trying to get hold of a kingston one , but no luck yet ...

Maybe my only option ....

I have tried what i wrote above and also the command line abd option , but neither works ...

I may be doing something wrong, but it dosnt seem like it ...

Just very frustrating !

Sorry that I cannot answer/solve all of your questions/problems, but as you can imagine, I get so many questions, especially PM's, and I really do not have time to answer all of them. I use the phandroid app on my phone 70% of the time and that makes it much harder to keep up with all questions. I will try to answer as many as I can when I login on my laptop.

Please click Thanks on the posts of the guys that are answering questions for those of you that are having problems.

Thanks for posting the guide and sharing the knowledge! :D

I've been trying to go through the steps in the guide and for the life of me can't get USB debugging enabled. After I successfully install the Softbank JP Rom and the phone boots up I get a 'Insert Softbank USIM' message and can't do anything but make emergency calls (I'm in Australia so I don't have access to a Softbank USIM). Is there some way to enable USB debugging without going into the phone's settings?

I had a thought, is there a missing step in the guide between 6 and 7? i.e. replace the Softbank Rom on the SD card with the 1.32 Stock Rom and repeat step 4 to install the 1.32 Stock Rom?

Any help is much appreciated!!! :)

Hi everyone,

I too am having the same problem! I've spent hours reformatting and reflashing the drive, making sure all the HTC sync drivers and adb drivers are installed, yet still cant sort it out. I've completed all the steps in cubz's downgrade from 2.37 guide up until step 8, where i cant access the phone's settings coz its locked!

I need to be able to access the phones settings so I can activate debugging but i cant because the phone starts up locked saying no sim is installed and prompting me to type in a password so I can enter the phone.

Any suggestions?

Is there any way of obtaining the pin code so i can unlock the phone and access settings?

Is it worth me looking into getting my hands on a USIM? Found a few on ebay around AUS$60.

Any help will be much appreciated. Anyone in Sydney who is willing to help me will be rewarded :)

Hi all -
Aaron here, and I've followed everything in this list, but the adb push is getting to me.

I get to the "adb push GingerBreak /data/local/tmp" and get the response "cannot stat 'GingerBreak': No Such file or Directory."

This makes sense, as I've just looked in my C:/Downgrade folder and there is no "Gingerbreak" file.

Hmm... can anyone make sense of this? -
Thanks :D

There's a downgrade zip at the bottom of the XDA post with the downgrade instructions, you need to be a member to see it though. Have you downloaded that?

Wow... that was the quick!

Yes, i did download the "Downgrade_v2" and extracted it into C:/

Ahh... for some reason I extracted the .zip but it didn't include the GingerBreak.... now it does.
Thanks!

Aaron
