2.50.405.2 update?

That all looks fine, when I said a problem, I meant it was just an issue with the process itself, not the actual updated software.

They say you won't lose anything, but there is no garauntee that every upgrade will go through without a hitch.

Apologies, I had meant to edit my post with a little more info.

oh.

hmm

Ok a question.
If I log into market again with my orignal gmail account I should get my apps back right.
Can I do something similar for contacts. I don't remember syncing them with google :(

BTW how do you check how many gps satellites you are locked into. Google maps ??

Yeah, if the handset is linked to the initial gmail account, all your apps will download again, same with the contacts.

GPS Status will tell you how many satelites you've locked on to. There may be an option in Google Maps, but GPS Status def will.

OK market was not opening on my phone :(
So i couldn't register my phone with gmail = no apps :(

I just check for updates again. and guess what. I have the same system update again :/

I am downloading it again and fingers crossed this time it doesn't do something bad...

:O

This is my software information now.

Is it same as everyone else ??? ?

I have updated again.

And this time the settings are

Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Baseband version: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2

Software number: 2.50.405.2

And I got a congratulation message about the update and nothing was lost this time.

market is opening now and it has registered my phone in it.

But when I go to my market account I don't see the apps I had downloaded earlier :(

I Received the update last Friday, everything working the same as it was, wi-fi seems to have a had a slight improvement in some rooms(where it used to disconnect its now connected, all be it with the lowest strength possible but still, a improvement is a improvement), phones with Vodafone.

Have you had any issues with GPS?

to be honest, I've got no idea, its always switched off, if you let me know of a easy way to check whether i have or not I'd be happy to test it

Thank you.

Download GPS Status from the market, see how long it takes you to get a decent fix on any satellites. If it does at all.

The Vodafone branded update appeared to break the GPS, it's undetermined what impact it's had on the unbranded release yet. I know some folk have had issues, where as some haven't.

phones connected to 6/6 satellites relatively qucikly, less than half a minute?

although to the bottom left of the compass opposite the number of satellites it says

10 Error(m)?

if that means anything to you, other than that it seems to be working fine.

Like i said the Phones with a Vodafone contract but not sure if the phone is branded?

Your GPS looks fine, I think the 10m thing is the margin of error for calculating your location.

HTC Branded phones will always have 405 in the software number x.xx.405.x.

If you go Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information, and your software number looks like the above, you're unbranded.

the other day I was riding around town and decided to test my GPS. I used GPS status and it was able to pick up 8 satellites (had green indicators). On the screen it said 8/8 (8 fixes and 8 satellites) but my GPS did not lock on. So would this indicate it being software related?

The latest from Vodafone UK:

Desire HD GPS issues following recent udpate - Vodafone eForum

HTC is working on a fix for customers who are experiencing GPS issues following the download of the latest version of software.

As soon as we received this fix we'll put it through our testing process and, once approved, HTC will confirm the roll out timings for customers.

We don't have a timescale for this work at the moment but will update you as soon as we have further news.

just got back from riding around town today and decided to play with the GPS. I loaded google maps and turned on GPS. my position was locked within seconds. I tested the GPS using GPS status and it found and locked onto 12 satellites within seconds (Strong lock). Since my last post i did nothing, but coincidentally the other day i lightly dropped my phone (my foot took most of the impact). Im back in the office now and i am about 3 meters away from the front door but no GPS lock. So now i'm still unsure why the GPS is soo selective as to what days it wants to work. Maybe it is hardware and by me dropping it, it gave the GPS antenna a stronger connection? or did the software somehow upgrade itself? or maybe the region i'm in (southeast asia) has something to do with it.

Vodafone support announced yesterday that there would be an imminent patch. I looked for it this morning, installed it and GPS is working again. Still not a great GPS, but then it never was, but it's back! Phew! :)

The software version is now called 2.50.161.3 which is clearly the Vodafone derivative.

I just got update for my unbranded Desire HD to 2.50.707.4 today from 2.37.707.3. I don't see any change or improvement. (No wifi or GPS issues before this.) Perhaps someone can inform the benefits of this new s/w version.

Cheers.
