Accessories 2150mah Extended Battery + Case

Mine came in the mail today. Honestly it's not that bad.

I feel the same way. Maybe the pics just are not showing it correctly. Perhaps if some of the naysayers here had it on their phones they would feel differently. Then again maybe not.

I just installed it and plugged it in for the night to charge. I will try to post over the next few weeks when I can how battery life is. But if I can double what I was getting I will be extremely happy with the purchase. Only downside right now is a case but I'm hoping Otterbox or Seidio will make something to fit at some point. Or maybe I will just go naked and get a leather pouch but dunno. Too early to tell.

Just got mine this morning...feels pretty damn good in the hand with the extra size. Yes if you have the phone laying on its face it looks dumb with that hump but who leaves their phone like that. Have to see how the battery lasts next after it gets charged up!

It's not quite as bad in person. I've been using it today and haven't found it overly cumbersome or awkward.

I managed ten hours, with 4 hrs awake time, on it today before the battery indicator turned orange (~25% charge left). Definitely better than stock, although not an overwhelming improvement from the Seidio 1750mAh that I was using up until now. Usage wasn't what I'd characterize as heavy (no streaming or extended use of gps), but I'm going to give it a couple weeks to get a better feel for it under varied usage.

Mine arrived today, and I have to agree it gives the phone a good feel in the hand when you hold it in calling position! Really, the appearance isn't that bad. It covers up the red camera ring, but on the other hand the lens looks much more protected now.

Anyway, the first thing I did was get out my dial caliper and take some measurements. I've converted them to metric (nearest 0.1 mm). They might be off by a fraction of a mm because I was anxious not to scar anything up with the caliper, but you can get the general idea at least.

Stock battery alone: 4.5 mm
Extended battery alone: 9 mm
Difference in battery thickness: 4.5 mm

Phone with stock battery, stock battery cover, Steinheil: 12.2 mm
Phone with extended battery, new battery cover, Steinheil: 17.1 mm
Difference in phone thickness: 4.9 mm

I was hoping that I could mod my Bodyglove case to fit the new battery cover. Bad news here:

Bodyglove case back thickness (including lining): 4.2 mm

So the Bodyglove case back cannot just be thinned down from the inside. It looks like I'll need to pick up a belt case, even though I really hate the Batgirl look. Until then it'll be living in a folded-over sock.:D

Can't say anything about how long a charge lasts yet; it's still on the charger right now.

Just ordered mine tonight... no discount :(

But I did get free overnight shipping, should be here by Friday.

Hopefully my OEM HTC silicon case will fit it??

Probably not, but you can try it anyway. I will maybe look to mod a case or wait to see what Otterbox offers.

Just got the extended 2150 mah battery from Verizon. Got free overnight shipping too.. (I told them online accessories are delivered overnight for free and this battery doesn't show up online so I'd like to order over the phone and also get the same shipping deal).

Anyway.. the battery and the compartment.. ARE NOT AS BAD AS THE PICTURES HERE... it's alright.. The phone feels a bit heavier.. but it is an okay feeling since the phone is so powerful to begin with.

I've powered off the phone and put it to charge.. I'll take it off in the morning and after a few cycles report back with battery performance..

those of you who are holding back on buying this phone because of the pictures.. trust me. it's not that bad at all.

It's actually not just a rectangular bump on the back; there's been significant tweaking of the contours. Also, the extra height over the camera lens serves to minimize the height of the "bump" at that end, as well as addressing concerns about damage to the lens. Honestly, given the dimensions of the battery I'm not sure they could have done much better - trying to give the entire back a rounded contour would have created large amounts of empty space inside, which would really be a mark of inefficient design.

2150 battery update 1: Unplugged it off the wall 2 hours ago. Made a few phone calls.. GPS and Bluetooth running. Received emails etc. Battery STILL AT 100%.

Got mine yesterday and returned it yesterday. Much thicker and looks stupid. Ordered the OEM 1500 mAH on eBay for 14.95 and will use that. It would be nice if HTC came out with a 1750. There is no case that will fit this thing. Horrible engineering.

I was all on board for the 2150 battery until I saw the design of the back. I have no problem with the bigger back but my issue is with how all the thickness is in the center. If they would have just made the whole back bigger it would have been much better IMO. Ohh well, I got my 1750 and 1500 both get me thru a day

I would strongly recommend buying one and trying it out. It certainly did change my doubts about the design. It feels solid in hand with the extra edges on the fingers. After 5 hours of up time with about a dozen phone calls, gps and bluetooth constanty on.. using navigation for about 15 minutes.. I still have 83% charge left.

I love this battery so far.

First charge and the battery lasted 28hr and 36min until 14% battery was left (when the phone notifies me to charge it).

Wifi, GPS always on
Screen brightness automatic
SportsTap updating
Gmail, Google Voice, Two email accounts on HTC Mail
Spent about total of 4 hours on the speakerphone with my gf, another 90 minutes or so using the phone with the ear piece.
Random web browsing, etc. Downloading apps, emailing, Wifi connected from 8am-5pm first day, and 8am-11am 2nd day.

That's impressive. What's more impressive is ran the phone another 5 hours without charging it, and the phone went down to 10%. At this point, I got home and began charging the phone.

This is a seriously good battery to have for a power user. As far as the design of the battery and the centralized hump, see http://androidforums.com/accessories-incredible/102300-htc-2150-dremel-vzw-red-case.html

That's pretty impressive. I don't have any firm stats yet, but I can tell you that this battery blows the stock battery out of the water. Its definitely a keeper.

yes but ANY case you buy will accomplish this. Both the silicon cover and the case/holster from VZW provide this protection and the seidio case which is a thing of beauty does too. No buldge needed

With all of those cases on you still expose the glass to whatever surface the phone is lying on... And to all the people who are saying they will go with the seidio 1750 mAh battery instead, I would recommend buying the htc 1500 mAh for the touch pro 2... it's half the price and has the same amount of power, it will probably last longer overall too.

If you really want your battery to last longer, and you don't care as much about looks, get the 2150... and if longer battery life doesn't matter all that much to you and you'd like your phone to be as slim and trim as possible, buy the TP2 battery.

when the price on this drops into the 30$ range I may get one for the sole purpose of having for flights/travel, but probably not for normal daily use

Update 2 with 2150mAh Battery: Without charge about 15 hours. Percent Remaining 52%. GPS, Bluetooth always on. About a dozen phone calls during the day.. downloaded a couple of apps from the market.. used google navigation for about 30 minutes total.

This battery is definitely a keeper.

I barely got 12 HOURS :(

See my thread on the extended battery:

Any ideas, guys?

This is really upsetting me. I don't know if my phone is just defective, if it's a software thing, or I have an app that's hurting battery life.

well, i got the extended battery and have been using it for 3 days now. it's not working so well for me. today, i've had up time of 3:38:02 and awake time of 0:30:21, and i've already gone down to 87%. it went down to the low 90s just in the first hour i had it on. i have gps on, but no bluetooth, have taken a couple of pictures and sent two picture messages, several texts, and checked my email once. that's it. just sitting her watching it, it goes down a % point every few minutes, like every 4 minutes. that seems sort of crazy to me. is that normal? for an EXTENDED battery? maybe i just have too high expectations. i keep seeing people talk about how they do several things and it's still at 100%, when i can't do anything without it immediately going down like 10% at a time. this will definitely no last me all day. so why am i lugging around this huge battery?

my usages says:
cell standby: 31%
phone idle: 27%
android system: 25%
display: 9%
camera: 8%

i'm sure i'm just being unrealistic in my expectations, but my moto droid did better on just a standard battery. or at least the same. and i do that trick where you kill everything when you start it up, just in case the calendar or something is not letting it sleep, but obviously my phone is sleeping. it's just really draining fast. ideas? no flames, please, i'm new at this battery thing. i've read all the posts, i think i'm doing everything right. let me know if i'm doing something wrong or if this is just standard. thanks.

@gidget: Maybe it'll get better after a few more charges. I am using the battery my phone came with and before I had to put my phone back on the charger around 6-7pm when taking it off at 7:30am. After a week of charging and "topping off" the battery, I can go the whole day and still end with 30-40% charge left with moderate use.

I'm hoping there'll eventually be a case that will fit with this battery. I'm leaning more towards this vs the Seidio's simply because I feel Seidio's seem overpriced.

People need to give the battery time to break in , they don't come out of the package working perfectly. It takes awhile 5-10days before you'll see the full potential of the battery

thanks, gorenut. i'll keep trying. also, i'm going to try that turn your phone off in the morning and top off the battery trick. maybe that will help. now my up time is 5:53:54 and awake is 0:54:12, and battery is at 76%. that's not horrible by any means, but it's not what i expected.

strangely, for the first time, i'm seeing the awake and up time numbers out of sync, that is, they are clicking at a slightly off interval. huh.

anyhow, i really, really do not have a problem with the extra size in back of the phone, but then, i have absolutely nothing to compare it to (i got my inc as a replacement, had the moto droid, so i never had the original back; they sent me the extended battery and new back for free). i did just order a cheap 1500 battery and had verizon ship me the original back, so maybe i'll try that next week, too. i'd rather have my phone in a case, and i have the red silicone case from verizon, but of course i can't use it right now. i really wish someone would make a case to accommodate the bigger back, but for now, naked is working for me.
