3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

The 3d effect won't be seen in general. Hum I wonder if they include a couple of 3d movies with the phone.

The phones they were showing at CTIA had some pretty cool demo 3d movies, like one of a couple in Paris that looked really well produced. Also a 3d trailer for the movie Green Hornet and the Android version of the game Splinter Cell.

Also phones had preloaded images that displayed the 3d tech. Not sure if all that will be on the phones on launch day, the Paris short will be for sure because it clearly looked like a showcase demo for the tech and was probably produced to come with the phone.

i hear the end of the world is may 21...

that is bad for 2 reasons..
1. i dont get my e3d
2. that is a few days before my bday!

so why are we wasting time talking about this????

As one person pointed out, they do and they don't. For one because Sprint has such a large budget they more then likely bought the media spots on a flexible time line (with in reason) about a month ago, or have an existing contract set up to run large campaigns at the drop of a hat (and a few million of course)....as for the latter I'm not sure that is something a large corp like Viacom, NBC or CBS would do but it would def. make sense.

On the bold part, if it's an ad campaign specifically for the mobile company, the ad time is purchased/negotiated in advance, but the Networks controls specific time slots that airings occur. A lot of times, certain timeslots are negotiated in, which will guarantee a certain amount of airings during "prime time," but obviously that would mean more money.

That's not even taking into consideration any "sponsorship" deals that can be incorporated into an "overall blanket."

I could go on and on about this. But bottom line is that, the Networks (both free TV and cable) control which ads/promos are aired and when. They base those airings on priority (e.g. which companies paid more for ad time and which companies have guarantees to air during certain times). And each time slot might be geared towards specific demographics. Lots of factors.

We're not - if one date slips out and the other slips in, you can record the end of the world in 3D and give it to yourself as a present! :)

Srsly tho - Happy Birthday!

I smell what you're steppin in, Dan!

Actually, it seems the release of the 3VO is ALMOST as secretive as the rapture. For the 3VO, there might be a handful of those in the know that really know but ain't letting anyone else know... just yet. For the "end of the world" or rapture, there's only been One who's ever known, or will know, and He ain't saying. So, as far as that goes, those that think they know what they know don't know quite as much as they think they know. Ya know? ;)

anyway, my BD is in a bit more than a month, so any time before then would be OK, even if I hafta go to a *gulp* Curve 8330 as a back up, since the end of the world is an increasing probability for my Pre! :D

Promise this will be the only OT post I make on this thread. Thanks for the info! Currently the company I work for has only worked with Dish TV and Google TV, when it comes to TV spots...though we are branching out this summer, so I wasn't exactly sure how the major media buys were done in TV just doing a bit of guessing based on print/web/tv we've done.

FYI-No company handles media buys the same though, but each company will have package breakdowns for any purchased ad time, whether it's for a campaign or for short-term buy.

Sprint tweeted something earlier about Oprah and it ties into her last show, and I got to thinking (dangerous I know)

What a better way to get exposure for the release of the 3d, than to have the big O do it on her show in these last few days, maybe even that last show.

She had the 4g last year early, so it would make sense.

here is a link, if any of you want to sign her card lol

Sprint - Let's Celebrate "The Oprah Show"

Dear Oprah -

You wisely see all, know all, tell all.

It takes so little to keep us phone geeks happy and yet it means so much.

Please rush to AndroidForums.com and tell us when to expect the release of the Evo 3D on the Sprint Now Network, and have your pal Dr. Phil give therapy to anyone at Sprint corporate who thinks anytime after June 3rd is somehow ok.

Please think of the children, the puppies, and our promise to never view you personally in 3D unless instructed by you.

Your one true pal,
I am not signing my name to this

Anyone go to a Sprint Corporate store to see if they are taking pre-orders? Typically, Sprint Corporate stores DO NOT do pre-orders, its usually first come, first serve. Stores that are not corporate, but privately owned can do as they please if I am correct. I just saw a post on XDA, which is why I am asking.

I actually just went to one today and was able to pre-order with a $50 gift card. They added me to some sort of list on their computer. The other store I had called earlier in the week wasn't taking them. Both were corporate as far as I know.

Well I almost got to go to the Sprint Cup event today...figured I might spot a 3d, but alas the company I work for wasn't able to secure a ticket.

Thanks for the heads up. My Sprint Store took care of me today. What will I do once I get my hands on my EVO 3D?

Wasn't the world suppose to end today? We are all still here...awesome!

Even Jesus is waiting for this launch. This rapture nonsense on May 21/22 is therefore debunked.

(disclaimer: I don't really know if Jesus cares about 3D or if He thinks it's just a gimmick.)

Jesus loves the EVO 3D, that's why he postponed the end of the world... so we could all get a chance to see this amazing device before armageddon.
