3VO Zagg Screen Protector

SGP is in the process of making their Crystal Clear and AG (aka Ultra Fine). They told me it should be out by end of this week in last weeks email. However, this is the first time I might be switching to a non anti-glare one.

I'm curious how you received this info from the company? Are you one of their product reviewers? They've confirmed via twitter un-specifically they are creating products for the Evo 3D, yet I emailed them yesterday and they said they had NO details to give out.

I got the regular zagg one, and am not happy with it seems to pick up everything, no scratches, but smudges, finger prints, all types of crap, maybe I should have gotten the anti smudge one, if there is one

I always order my Phantom Skinz a few days before my phone order, LOL, to make sure it arrives when I get my phone. I love my Phantom Skinz screen protectors.

I've used zaggs on my Storm 1/2, Eris, Dinc, Droid 2, Fascinate, Evo and now Tbolt, if installed properly you want get the orange peel!

What is your comment at the end supposed to mean?

I am absolutely dumbfounded by their customer service, this is exactly what he told me as of yesterday (the same exact rep mind you)

I got a Zagg for my 4G and 3D - BB installed both of them. I think they did a good job installing them, so my question is - what is the orange peel effect people are talking about?

Also, I ordered the Phantom Skinz to put on the back (would like to carry this phone case-free). But for those who have used both, do you find Phantom Skinz better than Zagg? I may want to switch out.

The protector starts to look and feel like like an oranges surface.

I know I liked Ghost Armor better than Zagg. I'll find out shortly about Phantom Skinz in comparison.

After having my 3DVO replaced within a week, and thinking I'd get by without getting a screen protector for a couple of weeks, stupid me decided to film the fireworks I was popping for my kids yesterday, and some smoldering sparks from the cone landed on the screen. Now I have two pinhead sized marks on the screen. One off to the side, and the other a half inch from the left of the border, and down a half inch from the HTC logo. With the screen turned on, they're barely visible. But when it's off you can see them in all their ugly glory... Oh well.

But as it turned out, I picked up another invisishield on my way home from work today. And this time I installed it so flawlessly that you'd think I was a professional installer.

On mine, if you shine a really bright light on the screen and look at its reflection, you see around the edges of the bright spot that the plastic isn't 100% perfectly smooth. There's a slight wavy texture to it. I've only seen this in situations with extreme specular glare; just using it in a bright environment (e.g. outside) doesn't show the effect for me. Maybe this gets worse over time, I dunno. As of right now, for any range of normal lighting situations, it looks perfectly transparent and smooth to me, so I'm thrilled. And even when you see the texture, it doesn't interfere with usage, you just happen to notice it.

(This is using the normal one without the smudge-proof surface -- that one will have a different, finer grain structure to it because it's matte, and that grain will be noticeable in normal lighting. I don't think "orange peel" is referring to the matte grain.)

Great explanation...

Yeah I don't see the orange peel affect on my phone unless it's in a direct light at a certain angle, it doesn't effect usage at all.

I like the Zagg, but I hate the sticky feeling with a passion. It totally ruins the touchscreen experience for me. Its like your finger gets stuck while swiping. Screen protectors are different for everyone. I probably wont ever use zagg because I have tried to get used to them twice on other phones but ended up being 40 dollars down the drain.

For some reason, on the EVO 3D, I found the naked touchscreen was a little stickier than I remember my previous phone (Samsung Moment) being. Is it because I played with the EVO 3D more because I enjoyed the phone more, and thus the fingerprints and smudges built up to make it sticky faster? I'll admit that's likely. :D Nevertheless, I found that the normal Zagg, while starting out a little sticker than the naked 3VO screen, maintained the same stickiness/smoothness very well, and although not the smudge-proof version, repels them quite well.

So basically: I used to have naked touchscreen, got the normal Zagg out of paranoia more than desire, but wound up being quite happy with it. Sounds like the Phantom might even be better, so if the Zagg ages and I want to replace it, I might try Phantom next.

I can't do the other protectors. Used Boxwave and multiple others. I'll skip having to reapply screen protectors over dealing with a little bit of stickiness and minimal orange peel. Not sure how people are having it come off? Are you just not applying it right? You can't beat getting a new screen protector for like $3 if the Zagg has issues. Just submit under warranty and bam, new screen protector.

I have put an invisi shield (zagg) on every phone I've had since the PPC 6700. I love them.

On the orange peel- I have had that a few times. But it's only there for a couple weeks. It smooths itself out after a couple weeks. But most of the time, I don't even have any orange peel from day 1.

I love the lifetime guarantee. I also love the fact that they will install it for $10, which also includes a lifetime guarantee on the install. Any problems at any point in the future, and they will take your old one off and put a new one on for you, all free of charge and no questions asked. I even had my son break his screen on is OG Evo. We took it to Zagg, they pulled the old protector off. We then went to Sprint, got the screen fixed, went back to zagg, and they put a new screen protector on.

I installed a PhantomSkinz and I was impressed. It looks and feels better than the Zagg one I had installed previously. It cost less, too, and application was just as easy. I don't think I'll ever use a Zagg protector again.

Most of the other companies have lifetime warranties also. It's not something exclusive to Zagg.

Mine should be here any day now.. I cannot wait to see the difference between the two..

Yeah but most of the other companies don't have stores where you can go exchange it and even get it installed.

Zagg has a bunch of carts in all the malls around here. Plus, they are in Best Buy. And you can go to those stores and get your zagg installed. That installation has a lifetime warranty. So if anything ever goes wrong, you take your phone back to that store, and they will take off your old one, and install a new one.

No need to install it yourself, take it off, mail it in, wait a week for the replacement, then install that one yourself after going a week with no protection. It's much simpler and easier to have the zagg installed. And that, as far as I know, is exclusive to zagg.

I got Ghost Armor for my Evo 3D, it's working out pretty well. Had them install it at the kiosk at the mall, they applied it wet so it looked horrible the first day, but it's going away. I'm not sure if I like the rubber feel of it, but it does look nice compared to the screen protector they threw in at Sprint. It's not as grainy as the anti-glare one I had on my iPhone 3G, but I liked the feel of that one betterso it's a trade-off.

I originakly had the antiglare zagg, it was great, no smudges, no fingerprints, but it made the screen grainy as hell, then I got the regualr zagg, screen looks great, but it picks up everything, smudges, fingerprints, crud, any suggestions? is their a 3rd one by Zagg? I have a $27.00 credit with them

I got the zagg antiglare screen protector too - same experience. I also noticed that the screen protector didn't cover the 3D screen completely. I tried to center it - ended up with a 2mm gap on the left, .5mm on the right, 1.5mm on the bottom, .5mm on the top.
I Emailed Zagg and they said that this was per design. I've got the regular (non-smudge resistant) zagg screens on my previous phones - EVO 4G, TP2, MyTouch, iPod etc - they all were the correct length/width. No gaps anywhere.

Did you see any gaps? Or did I just get a defective piece?
I just placed an order for phantomskinz - after coupon, I got the screen protector+camera protector for $7.76 (free shipping/no tax). And I think this protector is eligible for their 2 for 1 promotion as well!
Let's see how this works out. If this is a good fitting/functioning protector, I'm getting/recommending this going forward. No more zagg :)

Edit: I do realize why they have this gap - for folks who use a case (otterbox etc), the gap ensures that the screen protector doesn't get damaged. But per Zagg, this is a recent 'feature'. If they had explained that on their website, I would have just not purchased this one! I don't use a case, so I expect the screen protector to cover the entire screen.

Well.. I dropped my 3VO yesterday, and the bottom buttons on the front of the phone just stopped working... The screen wasn't cracked or anything, just stopped working... I took it back to sprint, and used my insurance I pay for every month... They replaced the entire front half of my phone...

I installed the Zagg the first day I got my phone, and after my phone broke and they replaced my screen... the lady from Sprint who repaired my phone, peeled off the screen protector and stuck it to a receipt, that's how she gave it back to me... She told me they don't cover screen protectors...

So I was like crap, brand new 20 dollar screen protector, useless... I took the screen protector back to best buy, without a receipt, no packaging, nothing... just my phone and the screen protector on a piece of receipt...

They exchanged my screen protector, and put a new screen protector on my 3VO on the spot... FOR FREE...

That just made my screen protector worth it.

Yeah, that's how it works with the Zaggs. That's why I always get a Zagg and don't even consider any other brand.
