Correct though it will be with fastboot specifically, not adb. But yes in lamen terms.

gotcha. last question. on my active phone (the one im having problems with) do i install twrp 2.6 or 2.7 to restore the 4.2.2 backup from the other phone?

Doesn't matter, but after you flash the firmware.zip then you will need to use the twrp I put together.

I had changed some things in /system/app. Each time I try to load the OTA, it deletes the file and I have to wait for update to re-download before I try again. Is there any way to copy the file from my external SD card & not wait for the download again?

everything seems to be working well at the moment, thanks for all of your help! its greatly appreciated. has anyone rooted yet? and if so, how?

is anyone else getting a terribly loud crackling sound when trying to make a phone call? i called my voice mail a few times, and i cant hear anything but loud crackling and distorted voices.

Did you flash the firmware.zip like I told you... Now you know why you need to lol.

i did. i noticed it before and after.
also, i cant seem to root.

Hmm, if you are S-Off then I recommend running our RUU. It will put you back to 4.1.2. Follow up with the updates afterwards. The RUU will definitely put you back to stock.

ok. we are talking about boost correct? and where can i get the RUU? sorry for the noobish questions, but i was up all night with this, and i cant even think straight anymore.

I GOT IT! ITS WORKING AGAIN! THANKS! i reflashed my backup and then flashed the firmware.zip again. i guess something went wrong the first time. Thanks again Moddingmymind, i really appreciate the help.
p.s. how did you get it succesfully rooted?

I have a flashable zip I personally made which gives me root ;-).

Baby steps brother, baby steps. It's been so long since we've had aupdate that I forgot all of the basics.

Thank You very much for your help and support Moddingmymind. I really appreciate it.

I will follow this conversation and your directions to solve my phone's issues.

Regarding your question: yes, my phone fortunately is still Stock Original. I did not change or tweaked any file. I downloaded the new ota file but did not applied yet because i wanted to make sure this update will not affect the chance for rooting my phone.
Besides that, i was wondering if this new Kitkat update could mess up my App2sd settings?

Once again, Thank you very much.

Carlo

P.S.: Sorry I just paste your previous message here. :)

I see your bootloader is locked. For being S-Off that is not required. However, to unlock your device you will need to use your unlock_code.bin file which you received from the HTCDev website via email. If you do not have it anymore then you will need to head over there and begin the process lol. They show pictures so you can't go wrong with it :-).

At that point just leave it unlocked.

As for the OTA you must insure you have not tweaked, modified, or removed any system files. If you have then the OTA will abort. This is due to the updater-script written out in such a way where it takes all the patch files within the OTA and their respectable MD5 Sums to compare with your actual system files. This is asserted in the process which basically means that if you are missing a file (it doesnt exist) it will abort and/or if you have tweaked/modified any of your files thus the two MD5 Sums do not match then it will also abort.

To confirm if this is a problem I would suggest firstly by accepting the OTA via system updates on your device. Or you can follow the conversation I had with Heloguy and there I have provided a link to download the OTA.

You must insure you have your STOCK recovery written to your recovery partition and NOT CWM or TWRP - the OTA will fail otherwise.

Once the update is complete you will need to flash TWRP again which I have also shared in that same conversation.

Then download and flash this to get root again after the update to 4.2.2.

Hi ModdingMyMind, as you can see, I am new to this posting thing lol ... sorry my mistakes... :)

I sent you a proper reply on a previous post... will continue there.

Thanks.

You will lose root, but it's very easy to get it back. In my PM I sent you a download link for a flashable zip that you can later on use to root your device after you complete your update to 4.2.2. Your Rom is stock so all should go well with you. The flashable zip will need to be done through TWRP after you update your device.

I got the file you sent me, thank you and I think early this morning i downloaded the TWRP from this conversation (if i am right).

1) Now, regarding my App2sd question, do you know if this 4.4.2 update will mess up my settings? I am concern since a few days ago i did a factory reset to my phone in order to get more free ram memory and decided to go the app2sd way to keep it at least with 40% memory free (phone is running decently fast now).

2) Would you recommend me to do the HTC-Dev step first to unlock my phone before ota and root processes or it does not matter?

You are S-Off so it shouldn't matter, but if it becomes an issue to flash TWRP after you update your device then yes, you will need to go to the site and follow their instructions. As for apps2sd I cannot say. Most likely your settings will be lost and you will have go set it up again. I personally do not use that so I cant honestly vouch for it totally.
