Root 4.3 BeanStalk

OK.

I've updated to the version from 8-31, he's building every Saturday but only putting up what works. So far I know that calling, sms and our forums app works.

I have a boatload of camera-related files, including lyapota's latest (MikeXDA's camera was originally based on that). I'll let you all know if I get anywhere.

Meanwhile - I've installed the Sprint voice mail but I don't have it working.

Any tips on that?

edit - ok - voicemail started working. The top of the display is hosed, telling me that I have %1s of %1s messages (something to that effect, I can't get my phone from WifelyMon...).

No FM radio on the One GPE - so that's not happening here either. :(

Between SlimRom and Bean Stalk I used UR Rom which is Sense based and had no issues with MMS. I tried to use Go SMS Pro but I can't figure the damn thing out. It wouldn't load my contacts or send messages.

Haven't checked out the screen brightness, but I did just send a picture (MMS) via the stock messaging app, no problem.

Maybe try the latest version of the rom I guess.

Don't sweat or use mock locations or sms, those are for developers.

No idea on 3G speed hack or PM Sleep mode, sorry.

And according to GSam Battery Monitor - I'm getting less 3G signal with this rom.

I'm having to reconfigure the network where I'm at and it's a low signal area - so I've had to give up for now, will try to do more with the camera later.

Very strange there EM. I've never seen a rom change the reception before.

Does GSam monitor the dBm readings?

I've never checked on signal from there before. I've always used Open Signal Maps to check that stuff.
 
I know right - really strange.

GSam doesn't and I was in a hurry to make a call.

I'm in a really bad fringe area right now and I was not getting service at all, with Viper I'm between -93 to -105 dBm so calling works.

I thought before it was just a bars displayed problem so I didn't care a lot, bars mean nothing.

But no service matching no bars means something I guess.

I mentioned it first day at XDA, no one responded so I didn't pursue it.

I'll give proper data next time I'm in the rom.

Naturally, everything is up to date on anything concerning my radios.
 
Only thing that pops into my mind is a difference in the AOSP to Sense kernel.

"Maybe" the AOSP kernel doesn't give as much juice to the radios as Sense?

Clutching at straws on that one. :o

Weren't there a couple people using the Haunted kernal with this ROM? Maybe they could test theirs and see if it's different than the "stock" Bean Stalk?
 
I'm having screen wake issues with power button and rocker. In the xda thread i the issue referenced as if it was an old one. My hardware buttons will light but getting the screen on is sometimes one press, sometimes 10.

Is there a known fix ?

It's given me ZERO battery trouble on my Sense rom, hope it works as well here.

Plus - if you use Nova and let it add home page icons for new apps, you automatically get the Screen Off shortcut added, that's my personal preference fwiw.

You want to "freeze" them.

They won't run, become invisible, and you can restore them if you change your mind or froze the wrong one.

Freezing is a built-in feature with Titanium Backup and a number of other tools.

Or you can use EStrongs File Explorer, turn on root browsing in preferences and go to /system/app.

Apps are named blah.blah.blah.apk

Change to blah.blah.blah.apk.bck

Android has no idea what a bck file is - so presto, the app is frozen.

Personally, I always wipe away cache and Dalvik after freezing.

PS - set your system to r/w, the default is read only. Usually a setting in any root exploring app, Titanium, EStrongs, etc etc.

My voice mail kind of works, I don't get any notifications on the status bar I have to dial in. I saved a message but now I have no access to it through my current voice mail menu. It just gives me 2 options, to change my greeting or exit lol. Where did you get the Sprint one and how did you get it to work right?

I stripped it out of a Sense ROM and just installed it as a user app. :)

Never did figure out the number of messages display. :p

I think after a reboot or two and me sending myself test messages from another phone, it just started working.
 
Having some issues now. It will freeze up on me and I'll have to hold the power button to reboot it, sometimes it will just freeze for 5-10 seconds. Sometimes I'll hit the power button to wake it up but it won't and will just reboot itself after the 2nd or 3rd time pressing the button - not holding it down. I'm getting UI crashes too. I'm on the newest version - 20130917, I tried wiping the cache and devlik, should I try full wipe and reinstall again?
 
Before going to that trouble, I'd next wipe all app caches.

If it's not in settings like on Sense, you can do it with Clean Master, free in the Play Store.

If that doesn't work, wipe data, cache and Dalvik, iow, a factory reset wipe, and then reinstall your apps.

Failing that, wipe and reflash.

This approach could save you a bit of time and hassle.
 
Would I be able to use a different gapps pack, like the SlimRom ones? I like the selectable gapps they have since I just use gmail, mail and gps.
