Root A few rooting issues and questions

Well your rom is rooted...doesn't mean s is off but we know something lol

Before we go down a path here humor me. I don't think your are incompetent and I'm not patronizing you but just for my sanity power off. Press and HOLD volume down then press power. Does it do anything? Vibrate, black screen, anything? If that does nothing do the same but with volume up, just one more time lol.

Nope, no luck dude it just acts normal when I hit the volume button down and hold it, it says ringer off then right after when I press the power button it just turns of the screen like it normally would. Vice versa with volume up.

LOL mine doesnt do anything with the phone on either...power off first lol Maybe you arent following and maybe thats my fault...turn your phone off...completely off...then try with the phone off, hold vol down, then power

I'm sorry, maybe I misunderstand this, but try it again holding down power also.

So off. Vol Down, and power (both) then for a few seconds. It should then (hopefully/normally) boot into the bootloader...

Titanium...you bought the pro version, still need to download the free version

To flash koni...download, place on sd card, boot to recovery, nandroid back up current rom, wipe everything except sdcard, select flash zip from sd card, find koni, select, flash it. reboot, bam

data kills battery, less data use better, turn it off if not using data, yes you can turn off 3g/4g and wifi and still make calls and send texts, its just a normal phone...Screen brightness kills battery, lower the better...auto sync alot kills battery set to sync less frequently...

set a screen off profile at 245-245 with set cpu, need a custom kernel...? do you have one? if not hit menu while in set cpu and disable perflock, this will let you underclock if you dont have a custom kernel...anymore questions feel free but im getting sleepy :).

Ok great everything is perfect just need a tad more help with the flashing of the rom. Ok I know how to download and place on sd card. To boot into recovery I just open the bootloader and select recovery or something like that. I have no idea how to do the nandroid backup, is there an easy way? Also if i restore the nandroid backup will i get all my apps and everything back just the way it is now? Also once i select the zip how do I "Flash it"? Just hit the power button Im guessing on the zip file?

LOL right...how good are these android forum members? :) can they fix the fake and impossible? The only thing i even found on google about it was on a different phone getting stuck in dl mode and vibrating 3 times after trying to get to bootloader...it was a brick...

Sorry for the contrite response lol you wore my brain a bit as i pondered all the things i was going to try to fix your phone lol

Yes go to bootloader and select recovery, or use spare parts to boot to recovery if you have spare parts, free in market if you dont, or if its an option on the rom press power, select reboot and then recovery...dont think it is on the stock rom though.

Anyhow i assume you have clockwork mod, hopefully 2.6.0.1. When you get to recovery it should say back up/restore, select that and then back up. It will take a "picture" of your phone right now and save it on your sd card and restore it exactly if you ever select to restore it.

Then you will select wipe user data/factory reset, wipe cache, advanced/wipe dalvik, and for good measure flash this tool by selecting flash zip from sd card, then find it and select it(power button selects).

Then select flash zip from sd card again and find koni and select it (power) it will flash it, then select return and then reboot, good to go...

Hmn Im going to download spare parts and I think Im going to leave my phone as is tonight, Ill flash it tomorrow. I am just using my evo as a 4g tethering device for my ipad 2 so I just need the battery to last, I have the cpu underclocked like you said and I froze a bunch of apps and what not and Ill lower the brightness and I have the sync stuff off so that should do I hope.

Wow 5-6 hours..we'll def work on that. Get at me tomorrow...

I just finished doing a nandroid backup with ROM Manager, how do I install ESIII using the ROM Manager?

I don't use it nor do I suggest using it but I'm pretty sure there is a flash rom option...it will probably just take you to recovery and you will end yup following my instructions anyhow...

Alright sounds good, I think Im gonna go for it and see what happens, I have nothing to lose since I did the nandroid backup sucessfully!
