Root A few rooting issues and questions

Hi I am new to android ..If Window > Preferences > Android, doesn't show build targets with your SDK location provided how to fix this problem iam Eclipse Galileo 3.5 and Windows Xp.

OK so I am a little late to the party but wanted to chime in with an excellentvend all confusion for the future

Its called quickboot and is in the market. It gives you the reboot options of recovery bootloader etc without fiddling with the pesky power or volume buttons

Alright sounds good, I think Im gonna go for it and see what happens, I have nothing to lose since I did the nandroid backup sucessfully!

::picking up thread:: +1 on what evomatt said, people have a tendancy to use rom manager becuse theyre kinda put off by the way the flashing process looks. Ill even admit that it intimidated me, looks like serious business when you see it for the first time LoL with your nandroid b/u, you shouldnt have anything to worry about. That being said, id take a copy of your nandroids and put them on your computer as a backup in case of (albeit rare) micro sd card failure. Also keep in mind that when going from roms like Konis stuff(sense based) to roms like CM7 (aosp android open source project) you need to wipe far more thuroughly. Caulkins format all usually does the trick just fine. And sms backup/restore has been of great use to me as of late(i hate losing all my mssgs lol)

LOL and maybe that would pacify some people but i would not be content with hey just use an app. I would have still beat that dead horse into submission lol :)

your sig doesnt actually link to koni...?

nope, i flashed to es3 yesterday at work, and just copied and pasted the text apparantly :( i need to fix that, but i think im goin back to CM7 anywho, so it might end up being a moot point lol

fixed it lol, thanks to your link ;)

Im an idiot I didnt hold them long enough, I was holding for 2-3 seconds not 4-5+ Im in bootloader now onto my OP. Sorry about this guys!

Titanium Backup wont open/show its installed
Steps needed to get Konis ESIII on my phone- Complete Noob
Steps to make my Battery LAST
How to use SetCpu or a good setting to have it on so my battery lasts

LOL I knew it had to be something like that (not to be a jerk, there was just some sort of communication break down or something).

I signed off too soon, I missed all the fun.

Glad things have work out for ya.

Thanks a lot and yeah sorry I held it for 3 seconds expecting it to work because I remember when I did a temp root last time i held it for 1-2 seconds and it worked fine but yeah I am still having battery issues. I am looking for a ROM or maybe a kernel(Dont know much about these) that will help make my battery last 8+ hours. I have a few setcpu profiles to help make my battery last, like i have the cpu underclocked when my screen is off but to no avail it died in 5 1/2 hours yesterday, i had brightness at its minimum but i was using the wireless tethering for my ipad and friends and i did have 4g checked off, is there any extremely user friendly, task manager that I can rely on, maybe one just for rooted users. I guess in conclusion Im looking for a ROM/kernel that can help my battery last what other roms do you guys reccomend since I dont know much or anything about kernels.

EDIT: Also for the Wireless tethering app, when using a speedtest I only get 1mbs and about .3-.5 mbs upload. Although the odd thing is on the app itself it says 9mbs and for a while was locked at 29mbs and up, yet i was still getting really low mbs on my speed test, not sure whats going on.

OK try a netarchy more havs kernel or a suv kernel, that should help.

Could just be that wireless tether sucks battery, i dunno, i dont use it but i imagine it would.

The less profiles the better, screen off at 245-245 and temp> is about all you need for what you are doing...you did disable perflock right? I mean its actually underclocking and you know it?

Ok I think Ill check on the rooting for dummies guide to find how/what to do with kernels haha and yeah I have the screen off at 245,245 and I have the perflock disabled so Im under the impression when its at 245,245 its in the process of being underclocked to saved battery. For the temp> what should I set it to?

OK then its underclocked lol. A more havs kernel and suv will supply less voltage to your phone at given speeds. Oh just go here.

They flash like an update to a rom, that is wipe cache and dalvik and flash.

Temp I set it underclocked but still usable (different for diff roms and phones, my current set up can still function in the 500s) down to 245.

some people dont use temp but im in the souf and my phone overheats quickly on a hot day at the beach :)

Alright thanks a lot, next I need to find a good rom, that looks nice and runs fast yet conserves battery, then again does the rom even affect the battery?

to an extent...not as much as a kernel but yes. People have varied responses here on what rom they get the best battery life. You'll have to try. I would imagine that an aosp rom gets better life than a sense rom due to all the extra "stuff" on sense but you may find different...some of the sense roms like miks are extremely optimized and some have sense mostly missing so they probably get decent batteyr life also...

Yea that might be it but haha I've had horrible battery since day 1, it sucks honestly Ill be so happy if I can get the battery to 8+ hours.

lol +1

After doing some research, I am going to try installing the Heyitslou #8 kernel to help enhance my battery life. So basically I put it on my sdcard and do the same steps as I did with the rom, and then it will reboot with my same rom just a different kernel?

EDIT: Nevermind that kernel is for the incredible where can I find KINGS #9 kernel I did a search on the forums but no luck!

No to flash a kernel you only wipe cache and dalvik first, don't wipe anything else. Then flash. I'll grab you a couple links in a second

Search Haaarder...
You can find king kernels here and some plus some others here.

You want help picking a kernel go here. Its not fully up to date but its close. Understandably so, its a pretty large task. You'll get an idea though.
