Root A ? For The Android Gurus

Alright guys I was running FlyX and decided today that I would flash the new tranquility. After I flashed tranquility I lost root access. I've tried the D2 route to regain root, but I didn't have any luck.

I'd like some one who knows what they are doing to check my math for me so to speak. The following steps are what I plan to do to restore my root.

Flash back to 2.1 using RSD
Reroot
Install bootstrap and ROM Manager
Download 2.2 from ROM Manager.
Flash 2.3.
Retheme.

Please let me know if I am forgetting any steps. Thanks AF members!

Did you happen to make a backup? If so you could always go back to that and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Yes I made a backup but how would I get to it? I can't get to clockwork. I can only get to normal recovery.

That's my main issue here.

EDIT: Are you asking if I made a 2.1 backup? Or 2.2? Sorry for the n00b questions.

Sorry to have to link. I'm on my phone. Here is my error.

I think that's fixable. I can help you out with it tomorrow.

Why aren't you in PC mode?

I just did the Droid2 root on my X yesterday after losing root.

too bad I already fixed it for him:p
this was the problem
The symbolic link loop is caused by /system/bin/su pointing to /system/xbin/su which points to /system/bin/su
this is how it was fixed
rm /system/bin/su
rm /system/xbin/su

I had that problem yesterday so I just flashed the sbf. Are you saying that all I had to do was push it to xbin rather than bin?? I flashed for nothing.. fml

Glad you got it worked out for him. What guide does everyone use for the d2 method? The ones that use cp commands have more steps than needed.

I have never done it but I usually just pull up the same one the person I am helping is using. The one from XDA is the only one of know of though
