A New DX Update...for those who still care!

Looks like another update is about to roll out for the beloved Droid X. What is it? No one knows, and it's doubtful it will be ICS (but we can dream, right?). Anyway, I saw the news about a new soak on a couple of forums and thought I'd link them here in case you hadn't heard yet.

At the very least, I can hang on to this thing for another month until my upgrade date comes up, assuming this update doesn't jack it all up. Or a new phone comes out.

Now the sad part, I need to unroot

Update: Change Log here...nuts!

I signed up with Moto, waiting for the invite to d/l and test. It's supposed to address some of the bugs I experience, such as powering up on its own, crashes while playing music, etc., as listed in the change log.

Looks like the camera settings has been finally addressed.

My biggest problem as of late has been memory, mine acts really funny every few days, becomes really slow and finally locks up. MAybe this will keep me going until September when I'm due.

Where do you sign up?

They finally fixed the camera bug. They knew about that well before the last update. There was no excuse to not have fixed that then.

Excited for the update even though ill he upgrading soon...hopefully Liberty will be updated with the new base so my OGX can get its last and final ROM install lol

Gee, thanks a lot Moto. It's not like we haven't been screaming for this since the initial GB update. As trivial as it may seem to some, this was the main reason why I shelved my X after the initial update and switched to a Pre2 (great phone btw, just to small of a screen as 4.3" has me spoiled).

Day late and a dollar short though thanks to an app for rooted users called adj brightness. Liberty rocks, and I'll never go back to stock again. This Liberty build has been so stable, my old Nokia 3360 dumbphone would have been jealous.

Suck it Moto! Your hardware is top notch but your software blows. But I'm not bitter :D

I still haven't upgraded to .605 so I see no reason to get .621. No problems here.

Since I've had no problem with my current System version (4.5.596) I have been postponing the 4.5.602 for some time (like 6 months). I read comments/reviews here and in DX Forum.com where many people commented on the update not being successful, or worth doing for the update (radio update?) or having trouble with their DX not functioning after this update.

I currently have System version 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US. Will I be required to upgrade to 4.5.602, that I've been avoiding, to be able to get the recently announced .621 update. Is the .621 even worth doing  or is it too soon for anyone to really know that .621 update will provide repairs/patches worth taking up 15MB (but I've also seen this .621 update is 113MB).

Thanks

It might go through to .621 but it might not...jumping from .596 to .621 could cause issues...no way to tell...

You're already 2 updates behind...if it has not promted you to to update to .605 then my guess is you wont even be notified of the .621 update until you allow the .602 update to install

You're right about the hardware coming from Motorola but, you know that the Android updates come from Google, right?

nah...Motorola handles updates for our phones...Google only updates phones that run pure AOSP Vanilla Android like the Galaxy Nexus...

You have to be running stock. If you've rooted but haven't removed any stock apps or installed a custom rom, you can take the update.

Or altered any stock files. I used NinjaMorph to change my Settings icons and .605 failed to install. I'm sure .621 will also. If root works after .621 I may have to SBF and take it just for the Menu light buttons fix. That has bugged the fudge out of me too.
