. To be honest , I don't know what else to tell ya . Maybe hroark13 or Shabby can figure it out . From what I recall , you are the only person that has had this issue . We tried and I hope ya get it fixed . If I think of anything else , I'll let ya know .
if you want to see if its been disabled in terminal emulator type the following
pidof RescueStarter
pidof RescueServer
if it gives a number then its running.. this kernel should halt that tho
I just realized something. If I type
"pidof RescueStarter
pidof RescueServer"
I get nothing.
If I type
"pidof RescueStarter pidof RescueServer"
I get a number.
Any one have any idea why? or if I did something wrong?

I'm wondering the same thing . Any help Shabby ?![]()
Mine just says not found when I run pidof RescueServer or pidof RescueStarter on the terminal or connectbot, so no number came up. Am I good, or do I need to do anything different?
Update I did both commands on the same line and got a number

I don't think that it's a problem seeing as no # is given when the cmd's are entered as instructed . I'm just a lil curious what the #" are for when all the cmd is typed on 1 line .![]()
pidof is a Linux utility that returns the process identifier (PID) of a running process or processes. On other operating systems, pgrep and ps are often used instead.

you used winrar or something to unzip it didnt youhey shabby i cant get shabbykernel for some reason in the pda the file i have that is supposed to be the kernel is a disk image that is named boot did i get the wrong file
On the flip side: Has anyone, ran the commands one at a time as instructed BEFORE they ran the Shabbykernel AND got a number like we are supposed to. I believe that it happens, I have just not heard of anyone doing it yet. I WISH I had done it before I ran the Shabbykernel on my new phone last night. But, I was in too big a hurry.
?
And, also: what is the number and what does it mean? Mark of the Boost?
Sorry, Bad Baptist Joke.
funny !Hey Biker i noticed that several of you got this to work.. any chance you could help me out??
im running shabbymod 0.9, and i downloaded Odin, SPHM820.ops and Shabbykernel.tar (its actually a RAR file-should it be?)
well in the instructions it said to put the phone in download mode but i cant seem to do that.. also it says odin will display a yellow bar but i didnt see that.. well i put the phone in Mass Storage Mode w/ Debugging ticked, and i opened Odin..
in the PDA slot it says:C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\Shabbykernel.tar
OPS:C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\SPHM820.ops
Is it safe to hit start?? or am i doing this wrong... Thank you guys VERY much in advanced..
Yes the file should be a .tar no need to extract it.
For the rest follow the instructions from the ODIN page putting the shabbykernel.tar in pda slot
3. Put phone in Download Mode by holding Vol down, Camera Button, and Power button until the Yellow Downloading message appears
4. Plug phone into USB port
4. Open Odin, you should see a yellow box with a com number
5 Select SPHM820.ops file and the PDA.tar in the appropriate Boxes
6 Click Start

I just ran the commands one by one and get a 93 w/rescuestarter and nothing when I run rescueserver I also ran them in one line just for craps and giggles and got 93 5190 93 ...don't have a clue to what it all means other than something is running that I guess I'm better off shut'in down so I'm gonna run the not to shabbykernel as I to tether quite a bit besides I'd rather not have Boost sticking their noses where they shouldn't Just wondering I received a txt from them not to long ago to complete a online survey for a $20 credit and did so ...it was all about the particular phone you chose when you start the survey...I guess that would be the front door I'm guessing and they knocked first by sending txt then left a $20 tip
I am a little lost.. I got my prevail yesterday, and installed shabbymod .9 on it before doing anything else.. I am not sure if this includes the modded kernal that closes the back door ?? any help would be appreciated, I've been going in circles in the forums.![]()
