Accessories are showing up

I am really surprised the phone isn't coming with a Kickstand. It was such a talked-about feature on the original Evo and they included one on the T-Bolt. Really surprised the 3D doesnt come with one. :o

Not so suprising, really. They made a sound decision in my opinion. It was either a bigger battery 1750ma or the kickstand. There was far more complaints and returned phones due to the perceived poor battery issue on the 4G. HTC listened to their customers and set out to resolve the number one complaint about the phone. I am sure they did not want to give up on the kickstand, but they made a good business decision going with the bigger battery - especially when they are offering a very nice case with an integrated kickstand.

Ohh, I wasn't aware that was the decision they had to make. In that case I totally agree with their decision. I'd much prefer a larger battery to a kickstand.

My EVO has a 1750 mah battery in it. It doesn't even require a special battery cover. They could have added a kickstand.

In one of the demos at CTIA, the Sprint rep said between the bigger battery and the additional hardware necessary for 3D capabilities, they were not able to accommodate a kickstand, without increasing the size, which they did not want to do (Thank God. Although I will miss the kickstand). I'm fine with that cover/case in the pictures floating around here. In fact, I think it looks pretty sharp.

It would seem that the decision was based on the fact that there are two cameras on the back of the phone. With the two camera it forced them to position the battery lower down which eliminated the space where the kickstand would have gone. So 1 camera, space for kickstand, two cameras, no space for kickstand and nothing to do with the size of the battery.

Kind of funny to post a link to a website that says they didn't test a brand new battery for the 1750. Their testing is flawed and science class teaches you that. Did they use the same phone but different apps? Did they run the same apps with all the same setting for each of the batteries? Nine times out of ten I would say No.

Amen

Looks like the case covers the camera. I'm going to wait on a case from Seidio, but this is proof the phone is about to launch. I like the clear case but $2.99 for a case means there is lead in the case and one drop and I will lose the precious EVO 3D. No way!

Hmmm. I recall some mention in a vid (the 26 minute one?) that the kickstand back would add thickness and thereby protect the lenses some - so I guess an add-on makes sense for that.

$10 cheaper than my first guess, so if it's the same, not too bad.

And then hassle moving the LEDs? They coulda made the back just have it in the first place - and position it lower for landscape + portrait kickstanding.

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet. I think I might have to get one of these just in case the battery life is not so good.

PORTABLE EXTERNAL BATTERY CHARGER FOR HTC EVO 3D CDMA | eBay

Waste of money and the battery life on the EVO 3D won't require that. People have posted the specs on this forum multiple times.

Looks like that can be used for any device that has a micro-usb port.

This is no better than the kensington emergency charger or many others on the market. The kensington is definitely portable and worth having in emergency situations.

Well that particular item I think is a waste of money but in general battery backups do have their place. Personally I use one by energizer, model xp8000. In my case I travel quite a bit, as often as twice a month, and sometimes its a real PITA to charge your phone at the airport or even keep it charged on the plane while playing a movie or something and thats were it comes in very handy. If it wasn't for me traveling so much though, I wouldn't really have a need for one.

Hopefully they make that Seidio Extended battery for the 3D with a bunch of giant cases for it. I liked having it in my 4G with 3 cases on top of that. It's huge and awesome.
