Accessories - what have you found?

The charger is nice. I thought it was a bit of a pain and clunky because of the slide feature, but as I got to use it more, I began to really appreciate it. They put a lot of thought into it.

You can't hook a battery in wrong, it automatically switches polarity. Also if plugged into a wall, you can charge a battery and use the USB out to power the phone at the same time, or use the micro usb to charge a battery without plugging it into a wall. Very versatile and does a good job charging. It's not some cheap generic charger you hope shuts off when it should.

As for the battery, this is my second one from them (returning customer) and I couldn't be happier. I have one for my Evo 4g, the capacity is what they claim, compared to the two oem batteries I had. It definitely held more. I just got the one for the Evo V yesterday, and based on charge and discharge speeds, it too holds more. When my mom gets her new phone (probably Elite), I'm putting one in that too.

It's not a lot, but it's there and hidden, I hate thick phones, and I prefer to carry a spare rather than a double thick battery.

Does anyone have one of these cases?
HTC Evo 3D - HTC - Case

I've got the CYCLOPS (use to be called the KRACKEN) for my Droid X... been dropped so many freakin times by the wife... still like brand new and it's been almost 2 years.

I like the hard case with the rubber outer case combo instead of the vise-versa, cant see any scratches or anything on the rubber where as if it were the hard plastic on the outside, youd see scratches.

Tridents are really good. The only issue is that they add a lot of bulk

As a follow-up to the original post;

I ditched the HTC skin and use the phone daily without any case. This is a really great phone, and I just don't want to ruin the entire look and operation of it with some case. I will agree with another forum user in another thread, though, the rounded photo button feels cheap and is out of place on this phone.

The desktop cradle works as expected, the phone moves in and out of it effortlessly.

The MHL adapter works fine. I will mention that I had a low quality HDMI cable that I tried to use with it at first, it did NOT work. I then grabbed one my Monoprice HDMI cables and it works just fine. That said, when playing a 1080p mkv video with AC3 audio that normally plays smooth on the phone, it's very choppy when the phone has to render it both on the phone itself and on the television (too bad there isn't a way to disable the video mirroring and just play it on the TV). This is an unfortunate result.

The Anker batteries are working fantastic, along with the universal charger. With medium to low use of the phone during the workday, I still have 80% of the battery left by the time I get home from work (vs. about 65% with the original HTC battery).

The back cover plate is an exact duplicate of the original back cover. If I do numerous multi-day trips, it will be nice to have 3 batteries to work with, without ever needing a charge, but I would imagine that after a few months of swapping batteries, the back cover will be getting a little weak as it did on the Optimus V.

I see that the HTC Evo 3D has been available for some time now with the contract carriers, so the prices on the accessories seem to be quite reasonable. If the phone really takes off again now with Virgin Mobile availability, not sure how long the low prices will last. Anyways, here's what I have purchased so far;

Radio Shack - HTC Evo 3D branded rubber skin. I think this was originally 20 or 30 bucks, now on sale in store for $10. I believe I got it yesterday for $8 for some reason.

Amazon - Desktop Cradle - 21 bucks. Why not.
Amazon.com: HTC Original EVO 3D Desktop Cradle Dock in OEM (99H10403-00) Retail Packaging: Cell Phones & Accessories

Amazon - Menotek Micro USB to HDMI MHL adapter. 13 bucks. You'll need one of these with this phone if you ever want to plug it into any device with HDMI, such as a television. (NOTE: You will also need to plug your Evo's power cable, or equivalent usb power, into the adapter to get it to work properly). You'll also need an HDMI cable.

Amazon - Anker (2) 1900mAh batteries, with generic charger. A little bit longer battery life, extra batteries, and a charger, I'm in.
Amazon.com: Anker 2 x 1900mAh Li-ion Batteries for HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, EVO 3D, Mytouch 4G Slide, Amaze 4G + Free Anker Multi-purpose USB Travel Charger: Cell Phones & Accessories

Amazon - HTC Evo 3D OEM Back Cover - As I was ordering other accessories on Amazon, I figured an extra 7 bucks was a good investment to have the extra back. With me taking batteries in and out, I darn near wore out the back cover on my Optimus V.

I love the cradle, it's so much easier than stopping to hook up a cable. It also makes for a nice presentation of the phone and reduces cable clutter.

The ease it slides in with also makes me think it's probably a bit easier on the phone as well.

Stock back covers are easy and cheap to get.

for those that have an otterbox case and want a car mount - I got one of these - fits perfect with case on - having trouble with the suction cup but I think I can work that out

Otterbox

Got the following from earlier links in this thread:

Oysterbox Defender case = HUGE, Extremely rugged case. Too big for daily use IMO.
HTC Desktop Dock = Well made charging cradle. Auto desktop dock mode is limited.
HTC Car Kit = Well made mount. Auto car mode is customizable.

Overall, good quality stuff at big discounts.

I got the OuterBox Gel case which i don't need i'm going to give away just pay shipping anyone. i found here at RS the OEM HTC case & OEM HTC Windshield Mount for GPS Mode at ebay New Sealed which it great

I noticed that some stores seem to be putting EVO 3D accessories on clearance.

I was at my local target a few days ago and saw that they had clearance the Zagg Screen Protector to just over 10$ which is a good 50%+ off regular price. They also had a gel case for like $13 which we all know is a total ripoff compared to internet prices.

Keep an eye out at you B&M stores for some hot deals.

What is the feel of these cases like? Are they comfortable to hold? Has also looked at the ballistic and boxwave cases. With 2 young girls and me being clumsy by nature got to be safe!

I purchased these and I'm very happy with them:

Twin-Pack Custom Fit Screen Guard Protector For HTC Evo 3D Shoot

The screen protector went on with no trouble at all, the bubbles all smoothed out just fine and the texture is just like the glass. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't lay *quite* flat near the camera switch and shutter button so there's a little perma-bubble there - I think next time I might shave the tiniest sliver off of the right-hand side before applying.

TPU Rubber Skin Case for HTC EVO 3D, Frost Dark Purple S Shape

This case is somewhere in between a soft case and a hard one. Adds very little bulk and looks great. I love the texture along the sides, makes it very hard to drop. The camera areas are pretty well protected, too (and I LOVE that the shutter button is no longer sticking out like a sore thumb - the case cuts away deeper in the back, allowing for easy pressing, but is sleek and straight along the front so the button isn't so "out there"). I got the purple one because I have the plum Evo, and they complement each other very well. Comes in black or white as well if you prefer that.

All in all, not bad considering both together were ~$5 shipped total!

I bought one too (from the ebay seller that has them very cheap, someone posted the link earlier) and I agree -- it's great.

Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive speaker dock?

So the other day I received the package containing my 2x Anker 1900mah batteries with charger I ordered from Amazon. Today I got another package containing another full order. So now I have FOUR batteries plus the OEM one that comes with the phone.

Let me know how it works, mine is on the boat.
Oops, that wasn't the one I ordered.

I got one with a "snake" arm, reason being I wanted it closer to me than the HTC model would do (due to the cars I drive). HAHA, the arm itself is only 6 inches. I expected longer, but it works, and for $5 shipped (took a week from China), it's pretty nice really. The suction clamp is incredibly strong.

:D

Have anyone tried this?

HTC EVO 3D Media Link DLNA Streamer DG H100

incl HDMI Cable + EU plug

HTC EVO 3D Media Link DLNA Streamer DG H100 - The Official HTC Accessory Store - Estonia

This streams content from phone to TV. This converts non DLNA TV to DLNA certified TV.

Does this work for HTC EVO V 4G?

:D

So, basically, it lets you wirelessly transfer your media to your TV through the unit. The unit appears to act as its own router.

It might work. As all of the advertisements for the Evo 3D are European, we'd need to have a look at the power cable, or have a converter handy. You'd probably have to purchase Worldwide. I really like the way it does not depend on the phone to process the video.

The reviews on the unit are, however, quite bad.
