Adding a Like button.

Just as the above-mentioned. This would be cool. Some posts only need to be liked not thanked. Think about it. ;)

It seems the thanks button is used as a like button as is - I'm not sure about adding to the mess of buttons.

Further, I'd have to request the plugin from Rob, and given what all he's focusing on right now, probably would not happen any time soon anyway.

I like what you said... (Get my point) I'll be hoping one day it just might be possible. Fingers crossed. :0

^^ If you believe there's no difference...then there would be a lot of things / features you would not see the point of their differences.

I think its semantics. To me they're synonymous.

"thanks for your help"
"thanks for saying that"

I don't see what changing "thanks for saying that" or "thanks I agree" would offer the forum except you'll get people pressing like where you should get thanks

Really! Thanks and Like are two separate words, with two different meanings. If you put it like that then the difference won't seem significant at all.

Even though both buttons would be in appreciation to a post, they can be used differently. If you're worried about someone liking your post instead of thanking it -- Don't. As I said before, there is a profound difference between the two.

Anyway, since it seem like the request for a Like button isn't a Likable gesture on the forum - I rest my case. :)

The point is that the "thanks" button has served both purposes for quite some time. Several tens of thousands of active members are familiar with its meaning here. Changing it now is simply not worth the hassle imo.
