Eclair beta 7 is not installing for me.
Tried moving files to root, original name and rename to update.zip and installing via ROM Manager, and manually via clockwork - no dice
Did the exact same only transferring via PC - no go
What gives?
Ha....I was editing mine when you posted. Yeah it's not working for me either. Not sure what's goin on.
Download the "Home Switcher" app from the market and switch to "Home" as your default. I went through so much last night trying to get it to work, and all I had to do was this. SUX lol, but I'm loving this yo!!!
Yeah...that will do it but if you don't want to download Home Switcher (I have never even tried it) you can just clear your current the default setting for your current launcher and then when you press the home key...select "Home". You wont find a app for ADW in the drawer and when you install it, it doesn't clear your defaults the way that Helix does. That is why so many people are having issues installing cause it doesn't clear your current defaults the way most others do...so when you install, it looks as though it failed.
Now if you are getting an error in SPRecovery...that's different. I didn't try it with SPRecovery but it worked fine in Clockwork for me. Just flash Clockwork, place the zip file on the root of your SD card (no need to rename it) and then "install .zip from SD card". Reboot, clear defaults, and be off and running.![]()
I can't seem to get in installed either. I've tried installing the zip through both SP and CM recovery. I've tried manually dropping the apk in /system/apps, setting permissions, and rebooting. All I ever see in Home Switcher is my helix launcher. It's the only entry. Not sure what's going wrong. Maybe I'll try again tonight after work, starting with a fresh rom install.
Did you make Helix the default?
You need to go into settings, manage applications, filter, all, find helix launcher, and 'reset defaults'
Then, when you click the home button, it will prompt you with which launcher you want to use.
Did it install successfully?
Well, I was tired last night and thought so. I just tried it again with CM, installed with no errors, but it still didn't show up in home switcher. So tried again with SP, and it gets to installing update and then aborts. Maybe my download got corrupted. I'll download a new copy later and try again.

When you are using home switcher does it have an options that says Home?
No Home. The only option is Helix.
I think it is phone specific in this case. After I read your first post talking about this I tested the "finger flicking speed" and I soon thought I had a problem with it responding...but I was just already across all 5 pages in a quickness. My finger can barely keep up with the screen lol. I don't know what to tell you other than to try it on a new rom (or even load up an old Nandroid and give it a whirl).
This is the best home i've used while using a live wallpaper! Its still still very smooth!
Well I did an uninstall and reinstall, and things appear to be OK now w/the home screen scrolling...I must have had a couple of bytes crossed up in the initial install for some reason.
CyanogenMod comes w/a Launcher.apk in /system, which I renamed before this second install, I'm thinking that maybe there was some issue related to that and the ADW launcher install.
i am loving this. been using it since yesterday and so far it has been great. i prefer the standard portrait scroll on the app tray so i am glad they allow for that in the settings.
It is better than the other ones I've tried but LWP still seem to slow it down for me. I don't like LWP's so I never have them running other than to test a ROM's speed or in this case, the Launcher's speed. If you like the LWP...this is a step up from what your used to though.
